I'm not the first person to notice this but during his freakout he mentions that the address they are at is the upstairs apartment and not his regular address downstairs. - It's not either OnA or KF's style and there wouldn't really be any other suspects.
- Swatting results in Cops breaking down the door with guns drawn, in the audio Pat says they were knocking on his door.
- The Cops seem to have gone to the address Pat was renting out not his actual address. Why would Swatters send the Cops there rather than Pat's house?
- Pat would be raging about it on Twitter for sympathy points.

Reasons I don't think Pat would call the Cops on himself in the middle of the night and lose his shit at them when they arrive:

They knock on the other side of the duplex, which is not rented out right now so Pat answers the door. The Cops eventually explain the source of the report so Pat realises that he flipped out without real cause and doesn't talk about it on Twitter because he knows he looks stupid, or worse he said or did something to the attending officer that got him in a spot of bother and he's been untangling the mess he made all day, hence him going quiet on Twitter.

That's my feeling based on what we know, but Swatting is not ruled out 100% so if Null wants to err on the side of caution I get that.

Yes triangulation is part of it. Shotspotter is a system of networked acoustic sensors, with roughly two dozen per square mile. the sensors can estimate the distance of gunshots and pin down a relatively specific location (at least in theory). Shotspotter cites papers (here's one) which claim the ability to place a gunshot within <15 meters. it is absolutely possible that Shotspotter gave the cops an exact address.
