Disagree because towards the end of his life, he also threw shade at the liberals and grew more misanthropic and blackpilled following his wife's death and the decline of his own health.

The same special that had his "American Dream" bit also had a bit where he shat on the euphoric atheists and debunked a lot of the canards about "If we had no religion, there'd be no war."

Carlin was liberal-leaning but was anti-authoritarian above all else, and his American Dream routine from "Life is Worth Losing" is even more applicable to the mega-corporations today than it was back in 2005.

A similar case can be made for Bill Hicks, who despite his hatred for the Religious Right and the likes of Reagan and Pat Buchanan, also hated Clinton and despised the actions of the FBI and ATF at Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Seriously? Because if you want to back in time to the 2000s or before and told the average joe off the street that kids are shaking their asses in drags shows and being taught sexual shit by their teachers. I don't think they would be on board with the idea.
Bah. Becoming part of the Machine they claim to be Raging Against is a pattern of practice among boomer edgelords.
  • Dee Snider of Twisted Sister? "We're not gonna take it"? He denounced John Schaffer for pointing at someone during J6.
  • Howard Stern? "Fuck your freedom".
  • Christopher Hitchens, the self-proclaimed successor to George Orwell? Became a GWOT cheerleader.
  • "Anti-war" Green Day? Performed at a Hillary Clinton rally.
The only ones I can think of who didn't sell out are Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Not quite. During one Cletus mission, Trevor utters a line "Liberals?!" as his response to Cletus asking what to shoot at. Franklin's aunt is poking fun of the modern feminism empowerment craze. Hell, there's even the Impotent Rage cartoon that has a superhero be an obvious jab on liberal policies.

I'm replaying 5 now, and IMO the jokes have aged well. Speaking of Parker and Stone, it feels like an equal-opportunity offender.

But I digress. Back to GTA.

GTA is not meant to be political in its execution. It is meant to be satirical of contemporary American culture. You try to control that just a bit, you lose its intent.

Have you seen South Park in the last few years?

There comes a point where something becomes so unrealistic it becomes laughable though, a woman running around and car jacking people is going to look stupid as shit.
You could do that in Saints Row, and, yeah, it does. Then again, playing as an enormously fat guy running around carjacking people really works well

Saints Row would like a word with you.

It's not as black and white as you think. Carlin used his comedy to speak out against America's policies. Outrage with a touch of funny.
Saints Row is goofy enough to essentially count as a spoof of the genre, but GTA, at least in the HD era, is supposed to be a little more grounded than that.

If everything's ridiculous like Saints Row a female player character is fine, if you're trying to have some real drama as GTA does, it's going to be absurd.

I mean GTA has plenty of parody and satire and humor, but it walks the line between that and serious elements too, a female protag is going to upset that balance and be too detached from reality, the life of a criminal thug leans male because... women simply don't have the same physical strength as men and a gun can only get you so far, you need to be able to back that up with the ability to take a hit or hit hard if you're actually serious.

You're saying there should be a male strip club and a female one? Or a strip club with both male and female strippers? Is that even a thing?

You're right though.
Just separate ones although I don't really think it matters, to be honest. At least in the world of GTA.

Agree to disagree. I think it's one of the least unrealistic ideas ever.

You're acting like a female criminal is out of this world. That, in and of itself, could bring an interesting twist to the open world crime genre. Maybe some bosses would react differently because of her sex, some subtle commentary on sexism and social expectations. If written and executed properly, it'd be no different than having a Mafioso/gangster/silent/ex-military MC.

It's going to fucking sell like hotcakes. I don't care. People are going to throw themselves at the feet of Rockstar and gladly purchase it because "Bro, GTA Online man!" "Yo, new GTA RP servers!" "Bro I'm going to fucking gank some kids in GTA Online!"

People will purchase card sharks so they can get all the OP tanks, cars, whatever and none of them will call out rockstar for their bullshit. Nothing is going to change. Nothing.
Don't be so optimistic about that; if their major concerns are pleasing soytrannies and pinkos (RIP Ammu-Nation), they probably aren't making a very fun or very technical game. Not even the legendary status of the III era could save the definitive editions, to the point R* scrapped all plans of remastering the HD era until the stench of the DE washes off at least.
People are much more wary now that not everything R* ships is gold.

While VI will indeed sell well, it will not make the sales numbers Take-Two demands if it's full of anti-gamergate IdPol garbage.

Oh, I remember when GTA IV poked fun of gun control with replacing Ammu-Nation with underground gun stores.

"Guns don't seem THAT controlled. I've seen plenty and I just got here."

There's an example of IV making fun of liberals. Well written, I may add.

This is on top of the fact that we don't even know what she looks like yet.

Like yeah, if she was just some scrawny waif with no prior training, or whatever, then yeah, he has a point, but if she's like some Ronda Rousey-looking bitch then her carjacking someone shouldn't be an issue.

It could work if you executed it right, but that's my point is Woke developers are exactly the ones to do it wrong to where it's absurd.

A female protagonist for a GTA game is a bad idea imo, the sight of a woman running around and car jacking people is going to be absurd, how's a woman going to drag a MAN out of a car and not wind up getting the shit beat out of her?
How was a Black gangsta able to break into Area 69 (51) and steal a military experiment?
How was a Mafioso able to level an entire city block?
Hell, how are they able to carry multiple weapons at once?

You're overthinking it; it's a video game.

The protagonist's gender means fuck all - GTA games are defined by the city they inhabit. As long as the map is cool to explore and drive in I couldn't give a fuck whether the character I'm playing has tits or not (even better if they're big jiggly ones) just please make the map fun to fuck about in and don't force any ideology down my throat other than that being a criminal can be cool as a fantasy to escape into.

I WISH she'd look like HER:

Elizabeth Torres? Yoshika? Asuka? Catalina?
Not wrong, but most of those are bosses you work for, not the henchmen type that runs around getting their hands dirty

I for one im not opposed to a female GTA protagonist, dont even mind them being portrayed pretty much as men, what does suck is that they'll most likely gonna go with tired feminist tropes ala "males take all the credit for your work, we can do what you can while bleeding" etc etc...

Seriously, asides from maybe Niko, most GTA protagonists don't need super complex writing to be good and memorable, just make a female Tommy Vercetti, female CJ, i dont know

Hell, just copypaste Catalina and i'd be fine with that
