Long time lurker first time poster here, I got an email today that was just so pathetic I had to share it. A little backstory, a few weeks ago I got put on Adam Schiff's mailing list somehow. I really have no idea how this happened since I'm not registered with either party, I've never donated to any politician, and I've never lived in California. After I got the first email I was just going to unsubscribe, but it was filled with so much whining and begging that it was actually hilarious, so I decided to stay on and get free entertainment every couple of days. Anyway, here's the one he sent out today:
"Mooooooommmmm!!!! Trump just called me a watermelon head!" Then after letting everyone know that his wife thinks he's handsome (no word on what his wife's boyfriend thinks), he asks that we all send him money so he can "fight back".
Based off the tone of these emails I get, I would say that the democrats are not doing very well in the fundraising department. Of course these emails are designed to sound like it's an emergency, because saying "Yeah we have tons of money and are ahead in all the polls, please send money" wouldn't be very effective, but still. A week or so ago Schiff sent one out saying something along of lines of it's the end of the FEC reporting period tomorrow so let's try and raise either lot of money or X amount of dollars within the next 24 hours. He never sent a follow up email saying how it went. If it went well, I would have at least expected something along the lines of "Wow, thank you all so much for the support, but let's not get comfortable because there's still a lot of work to do!", but no, that big drive was just never acknowledged again - though a few days after there was an email saying how McCarthy, a republican, was breaking fundraising records and why that's terrifying.
Anyway, I get a lot of amusement out of this thread so hopefully this counts as giving something back.

Bruh, I write my congresscritters all the time, and it's just a battle of form letters.
Letters to your rep or senator, if acknowledged at all, are responded to by staffers. Usually, they just sort them by issue (which is why they have issues listed in a drop-down menu) and reply with a form letter.
"Dear. Mr. Inglebard:
Thank you for your kind letter. While I acknowledge blah blah blah, I also yadda yadda yadda, and so I hummuna hummuna fuck you, peasant".

So basically, they're going to, on average, task more people to collect these conscripts. Conscripts who may have opinions of their own on the matter.
I mean, this is amazingly bad math. They're not going to get these conscripts -- well, I'll compromise. They may get a few. Then the lucky 'collection teams' will get intercepted and escorted to the state border. The unlucky ones will join the 'revenooers' of a century ago in a backwoods quarry.

I think a more logical theory is they'll revive the old Bush tactic of offering illegals & anchor babies citizenship for their families + benefits and a hefty life insurance in exchange for dying abroad.
I'll never forget seeing old momma Luisa screaming on NBC news that Bush killed her son and left her childless but lol please dont mention the fact I got half a million in insurance plus I am now a full citizen with medicaid and a sweet home lmao
