Regarding canan. Skimming through nyaa for known peers of hers: it seems the escalation is widespread... "new meta" if you will.
So it might also just be a case of not wanting to fall behind. I don't care either way. Just thought it was interesting.

A few weeks ago or so she changed it to just say "Shark". Before that I think it was a pretty standard bio like a lot of the girls have. Pretty sure this is the first time she's referred to herself as an "idol" in her twitter bio.

I think /vt/ are assuming it's the prelude to something big.

These I always end up buying, but man it makes me wish they could commission outfits for their first milestone rather than 2nd+.

If it is indeed the idol thing, it was around Holofes time that she seemed to be getting inspired by the ‘idol’ thing. I forget if she talked about it directly, or if it was Kiara talking about her talking about it, but Gura seemed kinda starstruck, like, “I’m going to be performing on this stage…”

So I don’t think it’d be outside the realm of possibility that she might be pursuing the idol/singing/dancing side of her job more seriously.

But just to sperg, it’s because she’s an idol and she doesn’t want to talk to or acknowledge the boys!!!!1111 And in the time it took me to write this sarcastic comment, people are already saying that that is what vt is saying. Sigh.

I mean she originally joined with the intention of wanting to be like Hatsune Miku so this is the next logical step towards that.

Gura recently had the appearance in Calli's live and her very own 3D concert. Maybe this is confirmation that she will travel to japan to work on her "idol" duties.

OTV traveled to Japan recently for some Macdonald's sponsorship thing. I feel like Hololive having one of their talents travel to Japan should be easier now.

Yes. They are probably threatened especially since the new kids have only been around for less than a week and they already have more subs than Uproar and are about to overtake the 2 lower subs from Gen 1 and 2. I think that in 3 weeks they will probably hit 250k and basically overtake everyone except Roberu. 1-1.5 months and they will probably pass Roberu. That shit is scary as fuck because your mind will always go to "why the fuck are they keeping me around when these new guys just shot past by me and I have been streaming for 2 years?"

Hell, even Pippa mentioned feeling anxious at Gen 2. If you put yourself in her shoes and take on the same doomer mentality it's very easy to think that way especially when they all seem to have way more raw "talent" than her. It's just how things work. The first-gen struggles to pave the way and the second-gen jumps in and the groundwork is already set so they get off to a running start. Gen 1 feels inferior while Gen 2 feels impostor syndrome.

From what I remember of watching Gura so far, I do think she's always been a big fan of Hatsune Miku given her rhythm game obsession. One moment that sticks out to me was when she was talking about finding Hololive for the first time and then gushing to her mom about how it was just like Miku.
Shark Mom then even encouraged her to shoot her shot for the HoloEN auditions!

But being denied the ability to do 3D due to the coof probably put quite the damper on her idol passion back then, in which Holofes was a key factor in reigniting. She was the one who reached out to Kiara for those amazing low-poly model VR dance collabs, after all. Idol bootcamp, as it was called!

I don't know what all this dumb /vt spergery is coming from just from her changing her bio up a bit, but I'll certainly continue to watch Gura's vtubing career with great interest.

Friend, I quite literally made this damn account so I could at least have the option to block his thread-spamming ass.
Still, I'd like to enjoy this chuuba-watching hobby as long as I can, so I'll be sure to stay on my meds and not go schizo.
