The "wrongful detention" classification is likely correct. Griner committed a minor infraction, yet is being treated like she brought a giant brick of yayo into Russia. She essentially brought in 2 joints (or less). It was very stupid of her, and she's paying a steep price for it.
Vlad is omega-pissed at the US right now and found an avenue to shit on his enemy. An avenue that Twitterati & the media have made much more successful by constantly crowing about it, giving Vlad more and more leverage to fuck with Biden. Ironic.
Overall, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person than Griner. A Z-list "celeb" who was thrilled to shit-talk the US for goodboi points got to find out first-hand what it's like in a country that actually resembles the false narrative she spouts about the US.
The downside is that Biden will absolutely fuck the US by giving up extremely disproportionate assets to get back an America-hating convicted wife-beater that bounces a ball for a living.

Third parties won't succeed because they always crucify themselves on divisive social issues. Focus purely on economic and foreign policy? Sure, you get support across the board. But they always misstep and include a plank in their platform all about troons, raycisms, or le orange man. You can have great economic policies and want to end war, but if you talk about how much you support troons cutting off kids' dicks, I'll never vote for you. The fact they can't understand this makes me think third party nonsense is all contrived bullshit.

I dont think the establishment part of Bidens admin is as shattered as it may appear. If only because they rely on it to actually write out and implement policy.
Take student loans for instance. The prog faction desperately wants to do a 50k forgiveness. Biden is mumbling about 10k. And the talk now is pushing deadline back and means testing. Thats the establishment (who have made it clear they dont want it to happen) winning.
Jill would want at least the 10k sense it was a campaign promise, Kamala probably wants to give some kind of win to the base. And wpuld be fine with any amount. The progs want even more at 50k (and some want total forgiveness). Cant see that as anything other than an establishment win. The establishment has beaten the "only congress can forgive this" drum pretty hard, even though forgiveness of debts to the federal government are pretty well scoped out constituionally within presidental power.
My theory is that most presidencies have factions that vie for everything. Its just that they have Presidents that pick the winners and losers and this one doesnt have one that can do anything other than what their told.

Cornyn's been a RINO fucker since he got into office. He doesn't give a damn about his constituents and makes that well known if you've ever contacted his office for anything other than tickling his balls. I'm half convinced the only reason he's still in office is because he was the lesser of two evils but it really isn't saying much because of how the fucker acts.

Here’s my thing: there’s always the “Ten Years of Kamala” angle. It just has to always be calculated to get the maximum length. As for candidates, I can only see Hillary being in it because of the right is to believed, her ego won’t let anyone else get the role of “First female President”. Also, there’s Gavin Newsom since he’s Pelosi’s nephew and you got that dynasty getting the greatest position there is in the land. Either way, they’ll get their preferred candidate on the ticket, and if it’s a VP, they’ll just have the placeholder do the most time allowed before resigning to kick off the decade, except the next time they won’t have to worry about someone like Donald Trump circling the WH like a vulture so they won’t have to keep someone like Biden around for as long as possible. (But at the same time, resigning has a connotation of leaving in disgrace thanks to Nixon).
