2. They wholesale backslid on the idea of global warming being a lie complete with forcing the kids to apologize for mocking Al Gore

3. They explicitly had Garrison rape/kill a Canadian Donald Trump (not Justin Trudeau as TV shows are forbidden to mock him) then spent several seasons shitting on Trump via Garrison complete with mocking his biggest supporters (The Whites, who has nothing but bad shit happen to them) and doing a bit where the town has to be told point blank "you can't joke or outright state you want to kill Trum... I mean Garrison because people will try and cancel you").

4. Trey and Matt EXPLICITLY writing the 2016 election season storyline with Hillary winning because "no one thinks Trump will win" in their Hollywood circles

5. Oh and the reason they made Garrison into a Trump stand-in is "we don't want to give Trump any publicity by having him be a character on the show" even though they spent the entire Trump Presidency whining about how "making Garrison President ruined their ability to use Garrison as a character" even though they fucking had a huge gap between seasons where they could have dropped Garrison running for President, but opted NOT TO because they REFUSED to make Trump a South Park character.

If you want apolitical shows look no further than Mike Judge. The one I'm hearing is Beavis and Butthead revival it's probably going to be one of the best things to come out this year if not for a long while. I'm not fan of the animation style but it's the content that matters.

Hate to be that old fag, but there was a shit ton of negative reactions when San Andreas was first revealed. Old timer GTA fans at the time were pissed because San Andreas was supposed to be San Francisco and they thought it'd be in the 70's there, but you also had tons of kids pissed off they were playing a black man. One of the big things that ended up being mocked was the phrase "I can't relate to playing as a black character!" And there were even a lot of people complaining that GTA was supposed to be about the Mafia not street gangs, etc. etc.

Actually seeing some of the negative reaction over a female/latina is really taking me back to those early early times in Summer 2004. It wasn't until the game released that all those voices were completely shut down.

Anyways, I know this is big news now because Michael Malice is using it to troll.

I guess my experience is different because I'm not American. I remember characters like CJ, Sweet, Big Smoke and Ryder being universally liked and referenced, people loved the atmosphere of grove street. SA and SA MP is still cherished in "racist" eastern europe among classics like Morrowind and Gothic.

They spent 5 years working on RDR2, which was also said to be a cluster fuck.

Also, did anyone actually say they'd support story after release? All I've read is that they will add missions and maps, which would probably be for the next iteration of GTA Online more than anything else.

At this point, I honestly can’t tell who is coping who.

Once again, we find ourselves attempting to parse the bizarre conservative definition of the word “woke” in the first place, which in this case includes…not making anti-trans or potentially racist jokes and…having players play as a woman for the first time in the series’ 20 year history. Sure, okay then.

What is “bizarre” and “conservative” about the word? And why is the first thing that comes to your mind is thinking that you can’t make “anti-trans” or “racist” jokes?

You can twist anything to suit your narrative, and suddenly the police murder simulator set inside a rotted parody of America is woke because…you can play as a woman and they’re not going to make transphobic jokes. Okay.

GTA 5 has sold 165 million copies, miles past any traditionally priced game with the next comparable one being maybe Mario Kart 8, as that wasn’t a lower priced title like Minecraft or Tetris, nor an always-bundled game like Wii Sports or Super Mario Bros.

1) Don’t you dare bring Mario into this. At least his games are still, you know, fun to actually play.
2) What does Tetris have to do with this? Why not bring up Pac-Man while you’re at it?
3) Minecraft is loved by kids the same way GTA V was loved by kids because, again, IT. WAS. FUN.

I fully expect Diablo Immoral levels of monetization. They will market it toward Zoomers who are accustomed to getting nickled and dimed. I am confident they will release what they believe to be a serviceable main story for the old schoolers and ditch it completely to focus on "live service" development down the line, where they'll micro-transact the fuck out of the remaining players.

Didn't they sort of do this with the Special Edition of RDR2? Yeah, the Bank Robbery Mission and Gang Hideout. Wasn't much (and you could still even miss it in the story mode if you progressed ahead enough) but still, the scummy element of greed was there.
