Sam Hyde

bro the fuck
sam was being REALLY generous here
he could've just been a shitbag and DMCA'd everything in an instant, instead he tried to work with his fans, and that retard turns down 52k for what he was already doing???
some people are just fucking stupid.

I wonder if he'll go after clip channels/pages in other platforms. There's a relatively popular Facebook page that also just posts clips, only time I see anything Sam Hyde related anymore I hope I didn't just rat him out lol.

May be a retard take, but if he can afford to pay $4500 monthly to someone to edit some clips together, is he really hurting that bad from reupload channels to the point where he as to strike them all down?
honestly, why doesn't he just hire a professional to make those clips? it would probably be the best move

Never found him particularly funny, seems like he always does the same shit, say some kind of inside joke or absurdity to either an unsuspecting person or the camera and then grin like a mischevous elf as though the fact that people are not "in on it" are somehow at fault for not knowing or caring about his gay shit. Highly overrated by people terrified of appearing out of the loop or unhip.

The $695 in referred Gumroad subscriptions is not "half a pair of new Nikes", it's $695 a month in recurrent income. So, while $30,000 of monthly adrev didn't cconvert to subscriptions overnight, 5% did, and that could be a trend.

There are ways, even when banned, to claim content on YouTube with ContentID (and therefore get ad rev for it) without buying or destroying channels. MDE was banned off YouTube so there's a 90% chance that Lil Shitpost will now be banned as well since he just announced the channel is now his.

Only smart thing he did was hire Lil Shitpost to continue his editing. To be frank, his Gumroad content is not worth the money. I was a subscriber and I cancelled. His format sucks, his guests suck, his videos on Gumroad suck. I would suggest them to literally no one. However, I still watch Lil Shitpost and The New Pill on occasion. Their videos are a combination of clips from multiple videos, including very old pre-Gumroad videos, which tell a story or paint a picture which is entirely different than the sum of its parts. They are NOT just simple excerpts from a single stream - or what we'd traditionally refer to as a clip. Often times, people besides Sam Hyde are included in these videos. Honestly, if I was Lil Shitpost, I'd have claimed fair use and took it to court.

tl;dr: I believe this is a blunder, his channel will be banned/demonetized, this will cost him goodwill, and his efforts should be going to making better friends and doing better episodes.
Idk man, I think it’s pretty funny.

(Also: You put together some clips. Great. You might even have put them together in a new way. Even better. But that still isn’t worth tens of thousands of dollars, while the original creator whose clips you’re using gets nothing.)

The bigger issue here though is that YouTube has become creatively dead and has become this bizarro business model based on everyone out-jewing eachother and YouTube out-jewing everyone the most.

YouTube used to be full of interesting shit, much of it not monetized. 90% of that is gone now, replaced by corporate shit, and “creators” who can’t do anything interesting or controversial because of the algorithm.

And as Sam said: Unmonetized stuff gets pushed down.

YouTube went from being HBO, to bland fucking ABC, chock full of ads. And clipchannels earning money on others work.

At least I experienced YouTube in its prime.

But that still isn’t worth tens of thousands of dollars, while the original creator whose clips you’re using gets nothing.
You're arguing what you think is fair, versus what the legal and optical reality of the situation is. There were ways for Sam to handle this without being so dumb but he went with dumb.

Pwr lvl here….I used to train in boxing gym.

Quick observation is that Sam is pretty seriously training here. That’s not acting. This is for drawn out 8th round stamina punches. Sam has been lifting for a long time so that shows in his shoulders and some in his core, but he’s also firming up in areas you only build up when hitting bags and bags that hit back. He’s not showing how well he can move in the ring. But he looks slower than an already slow heavyweight, if he is fighting boogie, he doesn’t need any speed. He can be E Hippo instead of Don Flamenco.

He’s going to break someone in half. Hopefully Boogie.

Also, his trainer fatty toady looks like boogie half his age.
Sam Hyde vs iCuck in MMA ring when?
That would be a fun match to watch to look someone whose fit pummeling cancer patient with testosterone deficiency. Sam needs to branch out to physical comedy and slapstick.

Sam's financials are a mystery and he's notably retarded for giving money to talented deadbeats who don't finish their assigned projects, but he's arguably the most successful underground comedian of our time. This is a guy who used to sell cars and record videos in his mom's bathroom and he now owns an office and expensive vehicles, has tens of people on salary, and is minting thousands of NFTs on Ethererum. If he's having money issues he's definitely not showing it or he's a master at evading debt collection. I don't see this affecting his bottom-line too much if it blows up in his face

As for his content I think his main problem is he's got too much going on at once. He had been teasing Bill Griefer promos for months before it came out and I guarantee that they filmed it sometime last year. Their NFT project was hinted at in 2020 and it's barely seeing the light of day now. His video game has been in the works since 2018 or earlier and we won't see it for another 10 years at least. Even his low-effort podcasts are months behind. Right now I think they're releasing shit they filmed in March or April. I don't think everything Sam produces is amazing but the projects he puts effort into are still consistently enjoyable, when they actually come out

Anyway enough dick sucking, watch more MDE. Or don't if you think Sam is a boring edgelord; I get you, he's not to everyone's taste, but it's still better than 95% of whatever shit people watch on TV these days

Did I miss something in Sam's lore? Or was he always like this?

We don't need to see his bank account to know he's doing pretty good for himself when it comes to youtube. He's got a constant stream of followers that treat his words like gospel. And as much as some would like to say, the guy isn't stupid. He's a strange, funny guy who works in a field where sometimes the road less traveled is the way to get your name out there. He uses his following to his benefit, in odd ways sure but it seems he turns some sort of profit in the ventures he manages himself whether that be a monetary gain or some other boost to his image.

Behold, the funniest thing ever put on American national television.

Unfortunately this one never made it on air. Sam uploaded it after the show was cancelled.

He could just be lying.
I think there is probably more to the situation. The New Pill didn't go overly into the details either when he congratulated Lil Shitpost on getting the deal.

Got wind of it yesterday. Everyone in this entire event fucked themselves more or less over and Null's posts explained the basic gestalt already. Subscribed myself for the Gumroad because of Nick's appearance in the PGL podcast and the jokes are pretty good. It's 5 bucks anyway and doesn't leave a dent in my finances. But I can understand Nools position, the GR gets 1 video a month normally AFAIK, 2 if the subscribers are lucky and the podcasts are not very up to date. The one where Harley shows up was made in May, but was uploaded in July. Sam and his crew promised more frequency in uploading the content on Gumroad a few weeks ago, but wouldn't bet my money on it. Well technically I do lol

I consider unsubscribing from the tip jar, but I'll just see how it goes in the future.

Where does the 30k a month figure come from? There's no way they would know if the clippers actually claim any adverts I would think.

This is also a pretty bad sign if these guys are resorting to walled garden content tactics. That's not something that ever goes 'well' as far as new growth is concerned, to say nothing of how people feel about clipping channels vs longform content to begin with.
