The thing about Lauren Milovy being completely fabricated is hilarious, but it also adds weight to the theory that Natalie O'Brien is also a complete fabrication. I'd always been on the fence about it, because that's the kind of lie that must be impossible to keep entirely secret. At least Frank must know whether it's true or not, and you'd think she'd be at least somewhat concerned about what Frank thought of her. But adding together the history of faking coworkers with the bizarre behaviour of tweeting at her "office account" like that was a real thing and always making extravagant claims about her "office", I'm now fairly convinced Natalie doesn't exist.

This means that her patreon is based entirely on a lie. She doesn't use the money to pay someone to help her deal with "harassment" she receives. I'm guessing it's mostly used to pay Amanda Warner's salary so that she can continue to pretend to have a company.

Anyway, the wiki article is getting kind of sprawling and hard to read. It'd be good to rewrite the lead section to emphasise that nothing Wu has ever said about herself or her background is true, that she has a history of faking achievements, friends and co-workers, and that everything she's ever actually done is hilariously terrible. Also, it might be worth tipping off one of those pseudo-journalists like Milo that Wu has form when it comes to completely fabricating people. I'd guess that investigating the existence of Natalie would involve more work (i.e. writing an email to Wu) than he's willing to put in to an article, but it's worth a try.

@Jaimas, I think I found something that will interest you. As the lolcow wiki currently notes, Lauren Milovy was allegedly John's girlfriend. This story doesn't sit well with a post Brianna would later write on Susans:

I've only dated two women, but I can look back at our relationships after transition and understand them better now. It's clear to me that Traci and Heather LIKED the feminine aspects of my personality. In the case of Traci, she liked having a "boyfriend" that could glorify and participate in the girlness of her personality. In the case of Heather, she enjoyed having a "male partner" that would let her be the more dominant one.

So apparently John was saying in 2006 that he only dated two girls during his life and none of them was named Lauren... more evidence that she never existed.

The SJW camp is fine with wealth (like the poor churchgoers are fine with their pastors living in mansions and driving Bentleys), and they're forgiving of the sins of their figureheads, up to and including pedophilia. It won't be any specific thing about Brianna Wu, her history or something she does, that could get her ostracized. If her character mattered in any way she'd be about the last person anyone would ever hold up as a role model.

When I think about her becoming an unperson, I see it happening like if she loses a major power struggle/makes too many enemies/the wrong enemies or this tenuous coalition of authoritarian opportunists fundamentally disintegrates and all the rats scatter in different directions.

Yeah - there is no single "smoking gun" possible because her supporters simply don't care. All this stuff about her being "exposed" as trans (her supporters already know) or revealing that Natalie is fake (She'll just say that "Natalie O'Brien" was an alias to avoid gamergate harassment) is kind of silly. All you can really do is discuss her transgressions as publicly as possible to make sure that anyone on the fence comes down on right side.

Even part 1 of this info dump is far too inside-basebally for anyone outside of people invested in disliking Bwu or involved in GamerGate to really care about. It's funny and useful information, but it's very much just more stuff for us to laugh at rather than anything that will be useful in convincing people that Brianna is a fraud.

Wu actually has lost a lot of support since last year. Her follower count is about 3000 less, but her fake user score is way up, so almost 10% of her current userbase is fake atop this, for a total of 7983 users lost since last year. The capitalism incident was a biggie, as was the Trans Samus Incident. Every time she fucks up, more of her buddies ditch her, and when Wu fucks up regularly, so each incident has the chance to snowball.

Adding when I get home. Good find.

Is Valentina/Unknown supposed to be an updated version of anyone from SOCCON? Holiday and Minuete are obvious, and Amelia could be a replacement for Lani (Wu's interest in journalism changing into her general "woman in tech" thing), but there doesn't seem to be a similar character to Unknown in SOCCON.

Valentine is the counterpart of Lani Cameron.

Straight-laced, intelligent, and focused, completely Allison's opposite, Valentina is essentially the Lani of the group, main difference being that Lani suffered due to Allison's crazy, party-girl nature and Valentina due to a bad call made by Holiday. The Revolution 60 one actually has some drama behind it, which is nice. Too bad it means absolutely nothing in the scheme of the plot.

Is it frightening to her that the only place her work is getting a serious discussion about its artistry is on the farms?

I actually think so. The only other places this gets covered are 8chan in minor threads and the likes of KIA, who considers Wu to be a waste of everyone's time and effort (they are correct in this assumption). Wu doesn't like that people get to discuss her being a shithead without her being able to run interference, as you've seen.

Am I right that there's some mystery as to what her greatest mac of all time actually is?

Going through the old thread I noticed she was active on IGN for 5 years or so, and found a thread about her being gifted a macbook by dh.

Wow! My husband, knowing my love for Mac bling, got me this for Valentines day. Isn't that just so sweet?

He was looking at jewelry, which cost almost $1,000. I saw the first gen MacBook Air on the Apple site refurbished for the same amount. I said I'd much rather have that instead. We picked it up! It arrives on Monday."

oh my I shoulda read a bit futher

"I just got a unibody macpro three weeks ago, and gave my older one to my husband. This will never be my main box. I see it as a sexy sports car to drive, rather than a larger, practical car. I'm also figuring it will be a great box to bring with me to Grad schol, since it will be infinitely easier to bike"

"great box to bring with me to Grad schol"

I'm a little surprised she hasn't tried contacting @Null about this thread. I mean, it wouldn't do shit but that hasn't stopped her before.

I just had the worst thing happen to me on a trip to Madrid - my iPhone was stolen! I was riding on their Metro, which seems very clean and safe. I was really stunned that someone reached into my purse, unzipped the side latch and took my iPhone Sena wallet! they got all my credit cards, about 50 euros, and my California ID.

I'm writing about it here, because I would like some advice. I had been planning to pick up the iPhone update this summer, and give my old one to my husband. I'm stuck in the boat now of wondering how much AT&T will charge me for a new iPhone when I return to the states. The official message boards give me conflicting information if they will subsidize the phone and only charge me $200.

If they don't subsidize the phone, then a 8 gig will cost me $400 and a 16 will cost me $500. This seems like a lot of money, considering that I only plan to use it till the next one comes out. Still - I HAVE to have an iPhone - I'm in the middle of moving to Boston, and the GPS is something I'll be running the battery out using for a while.

Right now I'm torn between two courses of action. One, to get a non-subsidized 8 gig 3g and give it to my husband this summer. He's primarily going to use it to play Scrabble, anyway. Secondly, I might go ahead and get the 16 gig, and then sell it at a loss this summer. Which COA do you think you'd go with?

Thanks, Jimmy! You are such a great guy. That's good advice. I'm enroute to see what I can do at the Boston Apple Store - if they give me a hard time, I'll wait till I'm back in Palo Alto. Those people know me pretty well, and they should cut me a break.

Madrid was fun. My husband was in conferences all day, so I got to go out and explore the city. The technology there was pretty laughable compared to the US - the most famous electronics store there was promoting videogames and Windows tech from two years ago.

I have never experienced as many catcalls and stares in my whole life. I can't remember if I've posted pics in this forum, but I'm a little over 6 feet tall and size 4 (which is super skinny.) Here in the US, I'm unusual but in Madrid I was taller than almost all the guys too. I had strangers walking up to me asking me out at least 4 times a day. I went running downtown only one time, and then found a gym - because guys were catcalling so badly, I couldn't enjoy myself.

Bri"

"Wow, Jimmy. That is the most amazing story! I can see how one culture would value petite versus more curvy - but it's hard for me to imagine a culture that likes obese as a body type. I think that different men and women are attracted to all body types, except for lazy and unhealthy. It's because the way you look on the outside reflects who you are inside. When you look like that, I think it sends the signal "I don't value myself, and neither should you."

Let me tell you, the gal politics of having a fat girl in the group are way complicated. /rant

As far as the iPhone, I went ahead and got it, and upgraded to a 16 gig. It was subsidized, but didn't have 3.0 on it. I had to renew my contract, which also sucked. The timing on this couldn't suck more, because the new one is coming out. Still, I've lived in hotels for the last two weeks, and have taken 7 flights - $300 is no big deal.

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night. One of the commercials before the movie was for Virgin Mobile, pimping that their Android contract-free phones are cheaper than an iPhone. It showed a bunch of hot people at a club, partying like crazy.

A. A night at any decent club costs a lot more than an AT&T bill, once you factor in a cab, coat check, cover charge and drinks. And I'm not even talking outfit. A cute pair of shoes is like 2 months of AT&T bill.
B. I don't think a party with people that have to sweat $30 is really worth going to. You know, because I'm an adult with a job.

Bri"

"You know MatLu, I don't even drink. And I used to be a crime reporter and have covered the jail on a daily basis. It really astonished me to learn what a habitual offense drunken drivers can be - the same people getting arrested time after time. But I also think your solution is a little unrealistic.

Putting the public danger of drunken driving aside for a moment, incarceration costs a state a lot of money. And the US already has more people in prison per capita than any other developed nation.

I just think it's one of those things you can be angry about, and with good cause. But it's also part of human nature and can't really be solved.

"I grew up in Hicksville. *shudder* I feel like Ripley in Aliens, "I am not going back there, and I wouldn't be any good to you if I did." I've lived in CO, MA, CA and MS in the last five years. Mississippi is the only place I would 100 percent refuse to move back to.

Bri"

Nope. Good ole Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Imagine growing up in a place with giant, testosterone filled racists named Tad and Trey - and very pretty blond girls that are utterly vapid and inevitably fat by 30. The entire culture revolves around football and Jesus. There is nothing to do on the weekends but drink and go to church.

Scary. "
"Date Posted: Apr 26, 2011#12
It probably wouldn't go well if it's another place you can't swing a sack without hitting a religious bigot.

Hattiesburg may have like 50k people now, but the population exploded after Katrina. it was the northernmost city that wasn't utterly decimated.

Bri"
"Yeah, it would be the height of foolishness to take this too seriously. It's really just more interesting.

Bri"
"I've never taken a class in art, Illustrator, Maya, PS, zBrush or anything that's kept me employed my whole life. My degree is in journalism and polisci. I also think that formal education is sort of a false God, to a certain extent. I'm not anti-education, I just don't think it's a singular path.

I see a lot of 20-year-olds in Boston going into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for undergrad degrees. I think for a lot of the Harvard people, it's a rational bet. For the BU kids though? I think they're being marketed a bad product. I don't see why state school is that much worse a product for 1/5 of the cost.

If my comments towards Mississippi are a little harsh, I'm not trying to be an asshole. I do apologize. It wasn't a good place to grow up for a tall, socially-inept, computer nerdette. I probably harbor more resentment than is useful.

Bri"

PS - Also? Is Limbaugh's N of 1 means even less than this survey. This survey is not, "Only liberals use Macs," as you can tell because the number is somewhere between 0 and 99.99999 percent. (I learned that in the fine public schools of Mississippi.) But, I guess it really proves some point for you, Jackrabbit."

Sure it is.

This is the first I'm hearing of CO and CA. I'm inclined not to believe it given how many crazy lies are being slung on these threads.

I don't understand how brianna thought that it'd be a good idea to use the exact same characters she drew as her former self (that she wants to remove the trace of) for her new game.

Then again (s)he's done dumber shit, so I guess there's no real bottom of the barrel.
It's to prove, Gloria Tesch-style, that he was a genius as a child.

"Look, these super-successful characters? I made them AS A TEENAGER! I was a child prodigy!"

If you read through the background material on Rev 60 (https://app.box.com/s/k3g3m8yi4eeau024yv5z6b3tjvqc41zv) you see how all the self-inserts are child prodigies and experts in politics/track/MIT.

This pre-dates the current catcall-outrage. Previously Bray had talked about she been catcalled at a recent talk, and I chalked it all up to to her trying to catch a wave on the latest outrage, because there is no way anyone would catcall her.

This slightly improves the odds of her not lying, since she said all this several years before it became a kerfuffle. Maybe she was still on hormone treatment then.

This is a great thing to drop in her Twitter the next time she goes on about body issues. Would have been perfect for the Barbie stuff.

Remember, at this point in her life, she was living high off the hog. High-earning husband and spending down his life savings on her pet project. No wonder she laughs at poor people, because "I'm an adult with a job."

My degree is in journalism and polisci
It's always great to add to the list of times she claimed to have a degree. Especially as there is someone out there claiming that she always admitted she never had a degree.

Wait...the ones in the middle are supposed to be pretty and normal...and not sexy? Why are they both wearing mini-skirt dresses and with waists that are about 4" wide lol

On a somewhat related note...why is almost every single character in any of your art pieces (or now video games) a woman?
Holy shit, back in 2011 people are already pointing out the problems.

It's too bad the images somehow got removed from that IGN post.

"I've lived in CO, MA, CA and MS in the last five years."
This is the first I'm hearing of CO and CA. I'm inclined not to believe it given how many crazy lies are being slung on these threads.

They got married in CA. If we had operatives in the area we could pull the marriage license.

....I take it back.

When I thought that the previous chapter was the worst, I had no idea I was merely poised above the morass of insanity that is Chapter 3. Marvel as Allison Holiday spin-kicks an immigrant child she then names Sweatshop. Minuete is somehow involved. Soup Hotels is marvelous compared to this hell. More people being called badonkadonks. Marvel at Wu attempting a fight scene. We also get Brea being a reference to Aya from Parasite Eve in that she's half-Japanese and owns several Katanas. Also Alison was once almost a Playboy Playmate. This comes up multiple times across several subchapters.

Also Brea has a breakdown over a boy and its totes emoshunal you guys.

The fucking MIYAGI CRANE KICK shows up again. As does the most stereotypical gay club where Allison dances so well she turns gays straight and by god does this thing makes me pine for the days of Myth of the Legendary Warrior. Jay Geis, Sophie Labelle, I take it back. You are no longer the worst things I have ever seen play with written words. Marvel as Lani pulls a Wu and treats everyone with an opinion not her own as intellectual inferiors and Allison does everything through the powers of plot convenience. There's also multiple sub-chapters of IMs, a-la Date Education.

The best parts first occur during Sub-Chapter 7, where the protagonists run into a group of Autistic Children, or as Flynt worded it, "Spastic Children." This gives what is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most unintentionally funny part of this book. The next one comes in Sub-Chapter 9, when Brea is subjected to....

*Sinister Orchestral Music Intensifies*

Yes. This is Real. It Actually Happens.

There's a very interesting part as well, in Sub-Chapter 10, where Lani establishes a fake identity for herself. Curiously, it almost seems like it comes from a place of familiarity.

Finally, we have Minuete's Evil Corporation, Paradox Ninety. That name sounds familiar, no? And it's totes the most subtle thing ever. It's about as subtle as this:

This is amazing. And retarded. Check it out, Kiwis.

Just wondering, Jaimas:

Wu has mentioned, most often in her old twitter bios, that she used to "race motorcycles".

Now to me, that suggests some sort of competition, even if only on the amateur level. And that would mean a race involving other people, which in this day and age would likely be filmed.

Do we know of any evidence that Wu has ever competed in any motorcycle race, at all? Or is this just more wish-fulfillment? I mean, we've never even seen her ride the thing, only pose near it.

Wu seems physically quite awkward. Doesn't riding a motorcycle take some know-how and, I dunno, physical tact?

Wu does ride motorcycles and scooters.

But race? Never. Jace was a more hardcore racer and he drove his mom's Prius.
