I got not one, but two thank-you emails for a charitable donation, but a multi-million dollar org can't email me to let me know I didn't get the job. Lord if we win the billion dollar lottery I'll spend my days applying for jobs then ghosting them (after tending to my yuge animal sanctuary ofc).

If the former, it’s kinda unusual for them to not at least send an email saying you didn’t get the job. And of course if you’ve been in communication with them already you can always shoot them an email and pressure a clear rejection.

If the latter, I’ve heard it’s a discrimination/liability thing. If anyone comes and tries to sue them on grounds of being rejected for X reason, they can say that their resume was put on file and that they’re still under consideration. From the company’s perspective, they get no benefits - only potential downsides - from sending rejection letters with every resume they discard.

I've had multiple interviews (got to stage 2) for both private and City jobs (of which I went through skills testing and was #1 derp). No one but the City would advise of your status afterwards just for the fact that in re: City, if you declined an interview you were warned that you may be considered inactive (which I did because my idea of an admin wasn't -potential overnight hours due to snow emergencies- as I don't fucking own a car.) Needless to say I responded with my usual witty snark which I can only assume was NOT appreciated.

So I had to decline that interview and got a subsequent email that my status was in jeopardy because of said rejections. LOL no it's ACKSHUALLY because I am white - I worked for my city as a temp before and watched the negroids do their fucking nails and hair and this was back in the 90's fuckn' a so don't even tell me you're looking for the best and brightest.

I've worked for 2 private companies that did both personality and cognitive testing beforehand. I am living proof those tests don't work as I flipped off the president of the first company and the second was the actual administrator of said tests for other companies. These tests, even the MMPI. are just complete and utter bullshit. I am a little drinky so sorry for rambling.

When the first company only had outside sales reps that were a) all female, and b) between 21 and 30 and single. And when you got married, you got desk assigned. I was in my early 20's, newly married and knew my talent after being lead tech writer blah fucking blah. So I inquired as to why I wasn't put on as CSR after catching a >$50K error on one of their estimates. They then put me in a literal corner studying manuals for UV transparency printing on Heidelberg equipment for no apparent reason and THEN after that didn't work to make me quit they transferred my non-driving ass 50 miles away hence the flip=off. I got calls all afternoon from the VP afraid of losing me as well as a lawsuit. So not even sorry, just because you can't doesn't mean I won't (no offense of course lol)

They fucking tested me and my point was they HIRED me. So who's the failure, them or Pearson?

The second job was great, and I worked there for over 5 years until the firm split and two partners went away which caused a general schism. I still keep in touch with docs from there.
