This absolutely reeks of griftdom. "Other" trans people I've seen online and in real life have always adopted a new name to distance themselves from their old identity. While I'll accept Dylan to be a unisex name (though still predominantly male), James hasn't been used that much for women (though one may see it with girls like Ryan Reynolds' daughter). The attention whore is strong in this one.

Not so much not useful anymore, more that it's out of date and inadequate given how the demographics of trannies have changed. The most obvious flaw is that there is no typology for FtM at all, which basically didn't exist ~20 years ago, and now are the overwhelming majority of youth transitioners (iirc).

Blanchard retweeted my personal lolcow's theory one time, which is quite insightful (despite being devastatingly mental) - five main factors that can overlap, and will sound familiar to many kiwis: AGP, internalized homophobia, mental illness (especially PDs), autism, and trauma. I'd probably add external/social factors too, but it sounds pretty solid.

It seems Dylan's been alerted to his faux pas regarding chasers and has made a Dylan Does Damage Control to address it. A few things to note: all previous Dylan Does Dating are tagged to OKCupid but this one isn't, and he's wearing the same outfit as the video in which he made the mistake, which was released 6-29, so he sat on this for about a month. He just clipped the video with the mistake for the first few seconds to provide context. The rest of the video has him wearing a different outfit. You probably just listened to the TikTok which is understandable as it's insufferable to see the way he carries himself in the videos.

The lack of ftm typology seems moreso due to the difference in sheer scale of mtf to ftm tranners when he was still publishing that research circa the ‘80s-‘90s. Plus for a guy studying sexual disorders, AGP has got to be quite intriguing. He’s tweeted about autohomoeroticism as a distinctly ftm trait (think fujos who troon out) but actually denounces the idea of AAP (autoandrophilia) because he believes it works differently enough in ftms to not be analogous to the mtf AGP. I agree that he lacks modern context and that merely splitting troons into homo vs heterosexual and early vs rapid onset GD isn’t enough but who would even allow, let alone fund, the kind of research needed to update the typology besides autists on a fruit farm forum

Edit: looking at big name ftms vs mtfs a huge difference to me is that ftms are - kinda garden variety buffet of autism, masc women, homosexuality and/or homophobia, sjw self-hatred (often for being fat, white, or straight), and fujodom. Nothing particularly jumps to me there. Mtfs are far more fascinating imo because they span lonely incel autists with catboy grooming fetishes to fat men who get off to the idea of themselves as inflatable pool toys and exclusively fuck other feminized men while larping as a true and honest dyke - the sexual deviancy is way more amusing in mtfs versus ftms who tend to be more…sad, I guess? A lot of the dysphoria whining is often exaggerated in my opinion, although I do believe it exists as a disorder).
