CNBC was discussing Twitter's downfall earlier today, and the guest analyst was saying that if Twitter doesn't get its shit together within the next six months it's going to be bought out. The vultures are already circling because the company is on the chopping block.

He also had a valid point that when you have an even semi-anonymous social platform that you tout as supporting free speech you can't then turn around and start eliminating people you perceive to be "harassers". When people do not have their real name attached to their account there is a bigger temptation to say or do things less socially acceptable. So either you promote free speech (and all the shit that comes with it) or you establish a code of conduct that everyone has to adhere to.

That's really the issue I have with the whole debacle.

Not only are SJW-types deeply afraid that there are not enough vaginas representing STEM fields, they are also very afraid of what STEM field cis white dudes may have to say about issues that are very much part of their field of expertiese.

Zucker, I think, can be considered a real authority figure when it comes to gender identity and they didn't like that conclusions he drew were moderate and reasonable. Because not being able to eat hormones for breakfast when you're 13 should be your god damn right!

I always thought that you need to show a history of gender dysphoria symptoms and you have to be evaluated by psych professionals before you cen even apply for sexual reassignment therapies anyways.

Ok, just to make sure I'm understanding this debate correctly, this Dr Zucker is basically under attack for saying that kids should have to wait until they're old enough to make reliable, informed decisions before they are able to go through SRS, right? I saw there were also accusations of him being unprofessional with a patient, but basically it seems like he's just saying that kids don't always make the best long term decisions for themselves based on how they're currently feeling.

This is the same country where the lowest legal ages for purchasing alcohol and tobacco is 18 years old... If someone under that can't be trusted to assess the health and well being risks of those, maybe they should have to wait until at least that long before being able to undertake SRS as well.
