Kevryn's idea of "reclaiming slurs" has some serious flaws. For one thing, a lot of gays and lesbians find 'queer' to be irredeemably offensive. But being the "trans elder" I guess he gets to write off their opinion, because he's decided that he's the final arbiter on the subject.
The idea that reclaiming slurs somehow defangs them has certainly been disproved by how it's played out among blacks. Supposedly, reclaiming the word 'nigger' to the point that it's now ubiquitous in the public sphere, whether in rap music or black twitter, or everyday speech, has actually resulted in the opposite of what was promised. When anyone other than a black uses the word, a collective meltdown ensues because blacks are even more hypervigilant and reactive about the usage of the word. (This results in increased entertainment of the chimpout sort, of which I heartily approve.)
Similarly, feminists have tried to reclaim 'slut', but still manage to shit their collective pants whenever someone points out that they're acting like sluts.
So yeah, Kevryn, you keep using 'queer' and 'tranny' and 'faggot' as a deluded act of reclamation, and we'll continue to use them to reliably trigger you. And the circle of life is then complete.
