Plus while macaques do get in conflicts with humans, they are far from the only animal to do so. Macaques are widespread and there are many different species and subspecies, unfortunately they all are being pushed out of their normal forest habitats by humans. Some have adapted well to urban environments, like raccoons and coyotes in the US, however they certainly doesn't deserve deliberate, sadistic torture any more than those animals do.

Japanese macaques are particularly notable since them learning how to use the hot springs in the winter&thus becoming a tourist attraction helped resolved conflict between the macaques and local farmers (the macaques were raiding crops after their habitat was destroyed for construction of a resort).

Even the long-tail macaques they hate so much are neat since iirc they're the species also known as "Crab eating macaques" since they've been observed to dive in shallow water for shellfish on occasion.

Btw with the snub-nose monkeys AFAIK all species are endangered or worse, and super legally protected as a result. They're neat little guys that live in remote forests in high elevations (they live in some of the coldest temperatures of any non-human primate, their weird little Voldemort noses are thought to be an adaptation against frostbite). Just like with great apes and gibbons if anyone finds any abuse material featuring snub nose monkeys, that needs to be reported to relevant wildlife authorities ASAP.

Just my personal opinion, but monkeys should not be pets, like ever. They are not domesticated and are not used to being held captive by humans. Just look at what happened to Harambe (and he did nothing wrong). Also kinda reminds me of this video I saw awhile back about someone's grandfather owning a pet monkey.

There are exceptions like fostering them (if you've had training) or if they are an endangered species, keeping them in a zoo, but other than that, just leave them be. Macaque monkeys can be violent adults so I can understand sometimes needing to shoot one for one's safety but that doesn't justify a person's personal fixation on torturing them (zoosadism).
