This is what happens when police are afraid to use their weapons. In any other timeline, I don't think any officer would have hesitated to turn that into an armed standoff instead of rushing the unstable person with a gun. What an emotional overreaction from the officer: it seems she didn't even stop to consider the consequences, she just acted. Of all people I would never expect a cop to do something like this.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that was agonal breathing. IANAD, though.
I wouldn't be surprised if she's still "alive" in the hospital just on life support. Hopefully she'll pull through, but I doubt it. Just let suicidal people kill themselves ffs.

Edit: As soon as I post this I see the update she's been upgraded to stable condition.

People really underestimate just how good shotguns are for defending against an attacker moving from an open space into an enclosed space you're currently occupying.

This is one of the worst non-murder videos I've seen and thought yall might want to see it. It doesn't show her dying, but I imagine you don't live that long with your brain exposed and being eaten.


Sadly this is the only remaining video I can find ATM, when i watched it about a year ago it had audio and I think it was longer. I originally found it on r/eyeblech but I can't find the post with the audio included anymore. I also found the original bestgore link but waybackmachine censored it. here's the dead link if anybody wants to try other archival sites Does anybody know how to search on YNC? I can't find a searchbar anywhere on that site.

Anyways, in the original one the woman and the doctors don't speak English. She's fully conscious in this video but doesn't speak much. I do however remember what somebody claimed was a translation and it went something like this:
The doctor asked "You have two sons right? Did they not see you like this?" and she replied "They didn't notice it".

This is the back story according to another redditor, which is an unreliable source but it's all I have.
"Apparently the woman had to undergo brain surgery AND she happens to also have Alzheimer’s. Story goes, she left the hospital before she was discharged by just walking off. She disappeared for a few months and obviously with nobody around to monitor/clean/redress her surgical incision/wound it became seriously infected. Of course they had to surgically cut a hole in her skull during the procedure. Big shocker her skull didn’t have a chance to heal and fuse back together prior to her disappearance. This provided the perfect highway for the bacteria/infection straight to the soft tissue of the brain. All of that led to the absolute horror we’re witnessing."

There's a comment saying it's from Brazil (of course it had to be from THERE...) and she's speaking portuguese.
Being someone who had a great-grandmother with dementia/Alzheimer's, that backstory is just sad to me. Poor granny :(

Yeah it made me sad too. The video is especially horrifying if the translation was accurate, implying she had her sons around and they did nothing to get her help until it got to this point. I can't understand how anybody would let their loved ones go through this and ignore them

@lurking for the deets They should just put her down at this point, I can't see how someone could ever recover from a state like this and at best she'd end up like a vegetable since I'd wager most of the top of her brain would have to be removed to avoid further infections and parasitic infestations, horrible way to go.

It almost reminds me of a story about a homeless woman in a city that I used to live in that had some extreme drug withdraws and developed schizophrenia like symptoms and would shove maggots into her veins, she had to be admitted to a hospital multiple times and later got permanently institutionalized.

Do not look up Myiasis on google with safe search turned off.

And like @Brain Power said, it's common in Brazil, The Bahamas and other countries with tropical climate zones with poor levels of sanitation and homelessness problems and can be seen in some random yuppies that decide to travel without taking proper precautions, luckly if you take care of yourself and see the initial signs it can be treated rather easily.
