GVHD can be horrific. The internal organ damage on liver, lungs is bad enough but scarred skin and inflexible joints are probably more difficult for the person to cope with.

It's bad enough the kid can't get the medicine. No need to make him dance. Although if I didn't have access to something I need that badly, I might do the same- some people do want to use their bad situation to bring attention to shitty systems. that kid's not a tard, and he's not a toddler. he's old enough to likely know what's going on.

It's "Special Books for Special Kids" who is generally considered a giant creep on this thread. He always talks down to people, bad enough when they're actual tards but often even when they're of normal intelligence. And even actual tards know when they're being talked down to. The phrase "I might be retarded but I'm not stupid" comes to mind.

Aside from SBSK and his normal insensitivity and poor interview skills, those parents were a lot calmer than I would be. It is insane when a working medicine is discontinued for costs and the person starts getting very sick. The insurance company might be saving money on a medication yet spending a lot more on treatments because the medication has been stopped. However, getting anybody at the insurance company to understand that and put 2+2 together is an impossible task.

The best thing for these parents is to try and get compassionate use for the medication from the drug company. They didn’t say (or were not asked) if they had tried that, and they never mentioned the drug or the insurance company. So if they hope anything will come from publicizing it-nope. They blew it and more likely, SBSK blew it since he either didn’t ask the proper questions or wouldn’t allow the names to be said for fear of blowback.

There is also a rare diseases foundation that might be able to help them out. But they aren’t gonna read here so I’ll stop. Poor kid. A friend died from graft vs host due to cancer treatment so I guess I’m sensitive.

There's a link to a GoFundMe on the You Tube page. As of a few minutes ago, they had raised almost $40,000 although I couldn't tell when it was set up. It sounds like his medical expenses are, for the most part covered (most likely he's on disability/Medicaid) but the GFM was intended for travel expenses. It looks like they live in Illinois, and he gets most of his treatment in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Not knowing what the drug is, I do wonder if the chart review indicated that this treatment would be futile, which is not uncommon.

Zach tried to reason with them, pointing out they made their fetus graveyard public, even offered to remove the link, but they were out for blood. It devolved into total war via email and Zach replied with that zinger to a woman screeching about her four Angel babies plus he added his “sense of decency had been surgically removed during the first Gulf War” so they were shit out of luck.

The fake baby’s name was “April Rose” …and the mother a legit compulsive liar sociopath named Becca Buehasen or something like that. I keep expecting her to crop up again in a story about a child’s death via MBP.

SA was really the place for OG cow action, shame what it ended up happening. I’m glad Null has studied Lowtax as “what not to do” example.

MMF and tacrilimus (any -limus) can only be used for a certain amount of time without causing really serious side effects. if they can't afford it, it's probably been MMF, which can be expensive, very expensive.

tacro is a lot cheaper, but he'd have to heavily supplement magnesium, it just drains it from your body. makes your bones fragile.

As I recall the zombaby was under fire for getting medications that could be used for babies that actually had a chance to live. The mom said the medicines were expired or near expired and that's why she got them. Yeah. That's nothing to be proud of if true. They gave you old medicine because they were humoring your zombaby corpse.

The poor thing just twitched slightly sometimes. There's a video where she twitched in response to a dog barking, which was apparently proof she was self aware. But it just meant she wasn't deaf. I keep meaning to try and find out what Becca is up to now. Before the April Rose scan she had pretended to be pregnant to scam ppl desperate to adopt and there was some fake rape accusation that got her tossed from college. p.s. It sounds like this boy, and his sister, had the "bubble boy disorder" or something similar. The best known person with this disease, David Vetter, died from GVHD on top of a virally-transmitted cancer he got from his sister, who had donated her bone marrow, that does not affect people with functioning immune systems.
