🐱 In Honor Of Chadwick Boseman And The Culture, Black And Latinx Fans Are Planning To Wear All White To "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"

CatParty

Last week, the highly anticipated trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever dropped, and fans have been screaming ever since.

The first scenes show Wakandans dressed in all white as they dance through the streets in honor of T'Challa, the Black Panther himself, who has passed away.

Similar to Wakandans paying tribute to their king, fans also wish to honor Chadwick Boseman's memory and give thanks to him for bringing representation to the big screen by embodying the first Black superhero in mainstream American comic books. And what better way to do that, many believe, than by wearing all white to the movie's premiere?

The idea was first proposed online by two creators — TikTok users Anthony Bryant, who goes by @canthonybryant, and @Official_AuntieWiggz — who called back to the premiere of the first Black Panther film, when Black moviegoers attended wearing ankara prints, tribal makeup, and African-inspired clothing. This year, the theme is meant to reflect both the culture and mourning.

In a mock town hall video that has been viewed by a quarter million people, Bryant addressed Black Panther fans, saying, "You may recall our last homecoming weekend was in 2018. ... As I recall, those of the diaspora showed up in full form and full regalia for events. ... The attire for the official day and the official weekend for Wakanda homecoming will be all white. All white. This specifically as we journey to the box office and theaters. We are dressing in honor of those who have come before us — for the ancestors."

"Whether this be African attire, general attire — whether you dress up or dress down — we would that you come on with it," he concluded. "Dress y'all. Y'all know how we do."

For those who are either uncomfortable wearing all white or do not have all white attire, the two suggest picking a color signifying royalty — often understood as being either gold or purple.

But let us not forget that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will not only be a moving film for the Black community, but the Latinx community as well. Mexican actors Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena are joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as characters Namor and Namora, and they are inspiring crowds who have never seen themselves so beautifully represented.

As such, Latinx fans have been encouraged to wear white attire with turquoise or green accents — colors often found in Mexican American art and on ancient gemstones used as jewelry, as well as artifacts from Mayans.

For people of color outside of the Black and Latinx community, they are encouraged to wear white with accents relating to their culture — and all others are asked to wear white with khaki, beige, tan, or gray.

When speaking to BuzzFeed about the symbolism of everyone coming together to wear white, Bryant said, "The wearing of white can symbolize various things concerning spiritual practices and general life. It can be a sign of purity and cleansing; it can also be a color used to deflect negativity. The wearing of white can symbolize peace or baptism — a rebirth. The wearing of white in certain cultures also symbolizes a veneration of the dead or the ancestors."

"Wearing white to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would be a way to honor the memory of Chadwick Boseman and his work within this franchise, and also a way
to honor the ancestors who have come before us, who sacrificed and toiled in faith — many without seeing what they hoped for.

Wearing white to the film is also a way to unify and memorialize this time that has been unique for all of us. We are emerging a more aware people (we hope), who are experiencing a rebirth in the way that we think and the way that we view community. This, not just because of Black Panther, but also due to what we have collectively experienced during the last few years. Wearing white would ultimately symbolize hope as we move forward," he concluded.

I think the funniest thing about Wakanda, is that canonically the meteorite leeches this wondermetal into the food and water of the place; and the only peaceful and advanced society in Africa is Wakanda. Meaning it's probably not populated by normal niggers, but by niggers altered into more intelligent and peaceful people by this wondermetal.

I would hardly class 'Magic is the only thing needed to make the negro civilised' as a pro black message. But I guess that's just my lack of blacknesss talking or something. Lol.
Yes, this is truly a work of fiction...

Disney movies are "The Culture" to you?
LMAO, where's the hippie whitoid who keeps saying coloreds have such rich and interesting cultures now?

What the fuck are Wesley Snipes and Michael Jai White to you inbreds?

I love how Disney is aware enough to know that the girl playing Shuri and the Spear Lady don't have the appeal to really market the movie with them, so they're resorting to paying tiktokers to worship Boseman's corpse to get retarded Kangz and I guess whatever the Latino equivalent is to hype them for the next movie.

No, you're involved whether you like it or not.

FML.
And fuck TikTok

These movies suck, and the actors, no matter how much you astroturf them, suck. The human interest pieces about the cast, and the forced viral crap won't make them likeable or entertaining.

The only entertainment value would be going just to watch the audience talk through it, and fulfill other delightful stereotypes and culture.

I miss when superhero movies weren't political and were just good fun and a way to escape from the mundane for a couple hours. Now you can't even do that. I would rather watch Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer over and over than watch any more of this garbage.
I know Jessica Alba gets embarrassed when she's caught not wearing clothes, but you ever wonder if Sue Storm would just walk around in public naked while invisible? You know, like how chicks will paint clothes on themselves so they don't appear naked at first glance.

Y'know all these historic "firsts", that have happened a dozen or more times already, make me unreasonably angry. Especially since these are the same people that will bitch about "erasure" and then pretend that Blade, Steel, etc never existed.

Edit: grammar

Why is it that I somehow knew Jessica Alba was going to be brought up? Admittedly, her presence was the best parts of those films. Especially for horny teenage me.

Personally, I'm not sure. I personally think she's too classy for that, but I can see her doing that to mess with Reed though.

I'm Hispanic and I never saw the Black Panther movies so leave me out of this.
Yes it's sad that Boseman passed away but move on; Wakanda isn't real no matter how many times Jaden Smith tweets it when not wearing dresses and smoking weed.
Let black people have this one. The only other movie series black people were told to get excited about is Tyler Perry shit and uh... Cool Runnings.

If I was THE THING, I would let my rock weiner just hang out all day and accuse people of being bigots for being grossed out by my large rock scrotum. At superhero, meet-ups be all like "Oh, hey, Sue Storm. Jean Grey, uh - Spidergirl or whatever. Check this out. I'm hitting my dick with a hammer and feel absolutely nothing. Can your man do that? Thought not. I'M THE THING AND I'M A FUCK TORNADO!"

>BLACK Panther movie
>wear all WHITE

Uh, okay.
Please tell me you don't have a Betty White skin suit...
Celebrate culture by whoring it out for corporate investment and societal agendas. Brilliant!
Was it a real culture to begin with? I thought that black panther outside of astectics don't do a good job building a believable and functional African society and culture.
