I think the Redditor obsession with Karens is just a way for them to express misogyny without being told off. It also supports consumer culture, which is the heart of Reddit ofc, and discourages asking for more from corporate overlords. The whole Karen meme spiralled from laughing at a few annoying old ladies to shrieking at any woman who asks for a refund.

That's just one of many ways people like this express misogyny.

  • Encouraging trannies to compete in women's sports and undermine everyone's efforts there.
  • Believing that having traits and hobbies that are perceived as feminine must mean you are either gay or trans. Ironically pushing traditional gender roles which contradicts the progressive mindset.
  • Talking down to women who complain about trans people invading their spaces.
  • Talking down to women who vote Republican, don't believe in abortion, are religious, ect. (Remember that one vid with the guy roundhouse kicking that one woman who dared argue with him about how she feels abortion is wrong?)
They are the exact same kind of people they claim to be against and they try to use the moral high ground to justify their actions.

The license plate is the perfect encapsulation; simultaneously trying to be edgy and transgressive ("HAIL 666") and trying to make a serious political point ("support education"). This redditor must be a terrible driver, because he clearly can't pick just one lane to stay in.

Karen went from a way to easily convey that someone was the stereotypical "Let me speak to your manager" white woman, to Reddits way of insulting any white woman they don't like. Of course it can only be used for white women because 'white people bad' but there are plenty of videos online of some fat black lady with her 4 kids who also wants to 'speak' to the manager (aka throw shit like a baboon).

Maybe we should start calling them Shaniqua's instead.

And it's very dishonest since it's almost exclusively slapped onto white women where it's usually black women that act up in stores and make a huge fuss over nothing.
