Think first time I saw a trigger warning from a vtuber.

Niji started added them after people complained (as usual) in the usual spaces. Vox added em to his ASMR for the same reason. JP have some off comments in their rule section regarding certain triggers.

I honestly thought the Mumei thing was a joke but holy shit.

I mean people were jokingly saying that Mumei was responsible for COVID-19 when she debuted. This is kind of part and parcel with having your new talent's lore be that they literally created humanity as we know it now.

Based on Kanauru's first tweet, it seems that they're all references to Council in-jokes that just so happen to have overlap with one of the many trillions of human-led disasters and tragedies that have occurred since the Sumerians we're sticking their dicks in mudpiles. In his second tweet, it seems that Mumei gave him 100% creative control with no oversight, and was happy for him to take up until just before the premiere to finish the project, which you could certainly argue is a tad negligent of the staff to allow.

I don't think anyone watching Hololive is even going to draw most of these connections. Did they private it as a precaution or yield to a handful of comments?

I'm willing to bet only Japanese management screened the video. They might not have appreciated the potential for upset people, in light of the fact that a lot of them never dealt with the Challenger disaster (I doubt people are getting too upset over stuff that was over 100 years ago, but you know how people get...). Probably somewhat equivalent to making light of the 1995 sarin gas attacks in Tokyo, Japan (which I'm sure Mumei was there for, too).
