DC Comics Multimedia General - A crisis of infinite fuck ups

I never watched BvS but I question them bringing in Doomsday so early. Doomsday is the type of thing that would appear in a Third Superman movie and be a massive deal. They could have had Metallo instead
If Superman is Hercules then Doomsday is the Nemean Lion, his greatest and most arduous labour. Doomsday is should be the “end of the road.”

EDIT: Got my mythology wrong, my bad.

Metallo, Parasite, Banshee or Bizarro would’ve been great for “early career” villains.

DCEU (along with pretty all the other Chematic universe attempts like Dark Universe) were to bissy trying to compete with the MCU that they rushed Storylines instead of laying stuff out. Despite all the MCU criticism you have to give the franchise credit for laying things out over time.

Nah, Doomsday in the second movie is actually fine assuming you actually want to do the dumbass Death of Superman storyline for like the fifteenth time. Then resurrect him in the third movie. Problem is you need to setup Superman as one of the greats that the world will mourn before that happens in the very first film and Man of Steel failed at that. But then I may be biased because I hate Doomsday and think he's one of the stupidest ideas ever thought up by DC. He belongs in the pages of a Hulk comic not a Superman one because a villain whose sole purpose is to have a 12-issue mindless punch-up with the hero that causes mass amounts of destruction is exactly the kind of thing that Hulk stories thrive on.

The problem with your analogy is that the Nemean Lion was the first Hercules' twelve labors... but I see your point and I actually agree with you I see Domsday as either the villain of Man of Steel 3 or even the villain in Justice League 2 or 3, he should not be the second major threat Superman faces

I wonder how much of New 52 sucking influenced DCEU. Marvel at least based a lot of its stories on classic comics from what I understand (Though Nebula didn't steal the Gauntlet in the movies lol), while DCEU was basing its aesthetics and tone off the New 52 instead of the 80s-2000s comics.

Yeah like Man of Steel showed Superman wanting to do good it would work. But the movie fails since it tries to hamfist religious allegories that are very on the nose, and Superman willingly takes fights to populated areas while also not seeming to give a shit about all the innocent lives he killed whatsoever. Then Batman v Superman makes it look like Superman hates saving people which could work, but it is horribly done.

The issue is that Zack Snyder has an edgelord's understanding of Batman and Superman as he made them both really terrible that had a ripple effect on the DCEU. Superman hates saving people while being viewed as god while Batman goes around killing criminals that happen to never be anyone in his rogue's gallery.

I could see a DCEU progression like this for Superman/JL:

MoS1 - Zod
MoS2 - Mongul
MoS3 - Doomsday

JL1 - Intergang
JL2 - Steppenwolf
JL3 - Darkseid

Intergang would allow the idea of New Gods to be present, but not go so hard with those level of character immediately. Maybe the final fight has a single new God but no parademons or whatever.

New 52 had nothing to do with it. DCEU borrowed roughly zero from it as far as I can see, all of the inspiration was from pre-Flashpoint era, a fair amount of which sucked way harder than whatever misgivings some fans had with the New 52.

Intergang is way too small-scale for a Justice League movie. Personally, I'd go with Starro.

Wanted to write in here as I recently watched League of Super Pets and no one between this thread or western animation has said anything about it.

My thoughts: The movie was surprisingly really good. I went in expecting a mediocre film and came out thoroughly enjoying the film. Nothing about the film screamed exceptional, but it flowed well and remained humorous till the end. It even had some well done sad moments. Overall, a good 7-8/10, it is a good watch if curious.

Here I will go into more detail about the film and plot, so if you want a fresh experience don’t click the spoiler tag:
The plot of the film centers around two conflicts. The first is Krypto and his unease over the idea that he will be replaced as Superman’s best friend now that Lois has entered the picture. This was brought on by two dogs telling him that he will be more removed from Supe’s life now that he has Lois and that Supe’s wants to get rid of him. Krypto then gets into a fit and tries to keep the couple apart. This part also highlights that Krypto is not very well socialized to be with anyone but Superman (his only friend) as he doesn’t act like a dog.

The second plot deals with the new League of Super Pets. Ace the hound, PB the Pig, Merton the Turtle, Ch’p the Squirrel, and Lulu the Guinea Pig. All of them want to break out of the shelter with the first 4 animals wanting to go to the mythical farm where they can be free, while Lulu wants world domination and is building a device.

The two plots begin to meet up when Lex Luthor brings down a meteor full of orange kryptonite that will give him powers. The Justice League defeat Lex, who for some reason was unaffected by the Kryptonite. During this, a piece of the meteor is brought down by Lulu and crashes into the shelter, giving all the animals powers. Lulu leaves the others to die in the fire caused by the crash, straining their relationship. Afterwards, Lulu kidnaps Superman as revenge for Krypto freeing her from her owner Lex Luthor, in a surprisingly done twist. From there she enacts her plan to impress Lex by capturing the Justice League, creating an army of guinea pigs, and freeing Lex from prison. She also injected Kryptonite into Krypto, so no powers. Now Krypto must learn to get along with the Super Pets to save his buddy.

From there the plot does some interesting stuff. Of course, we have the Krypto learns to be a dog, he learns to understand his new friends so he can guide them into using their powers, the you guys are my friends and I don’t want you to get killed for my mistake so I must go alone scene, yada yada. Nothing is original, but it is handled well. A good twist was that Lex betrays Lulu, which then comes back to bite him as Lulu breaks free from the cell she broke him out of.

The goood:
  • The connections between Krypto and Lulu are great. Lulu fuels Krypto’s insecurities by speaking on how her owner loves her. Lulu was Lex’s guinea pig, literally and figuratively and she cannot see the clear abuse between the two. Lex was doing nothing more than testing on her, but it made her feel important and cherished in a way Krypto doesn’t feel currently.
  • Ace’s story was actually pretty sad. The idea that before the shelter he had a family was good. Personally I thought the family would die, but no, the writing was actually a lot smarter. Instead it wrapped into the themes of Krypto’s narrative. Ace’s family changed dynamics with the inclusion of a daughter. One night the toddler got loose and was about to tumble down the stairs till Ace grabbed her. When the parents came in they saw the daughter had a bite mark on her arm and deemed Ace unsafe for her. What I love about the story is that even though Ace was betrayed, he understood why and continued to love the family regardless. I love his I wouldn’t change what happened speech. He makes a point to Krypto that if he truly loves someone, he has to be willing to let go.
  • The humor. The film had some great jokes. A personal favorite is the Justice League hotline which says press 1 for Earth 1, press 2 for Earth 2. I also love Mertle as she took me by surprise when she started cussing. The movie isn’t a comedic masterpiece, but the jokes definitely get a good chuckle.

But then I may be biased because I hate Doomsday and think he's one of the stupidest ideas ever thought up by DC.
Pretty much. BvS gave him about all the setup and screen time that he deserved. The Snyderverse and DCAU versions are better than the original one. (you can tell Bruce Timm thinks Doomsday sucks too)

It’s a crime we haven’t had Brainiac in a movie yet, skelebot or green man.

No, Zod and not-Lex forever.

I agree. This should be considered a fucking crime
This is a character whose very name has been pop-culture slang for decades, who gets constant attention in everything but the movies, his knockoff got a movie before he did (Ultron) and even the shitty Syfy series showed the evil alien more respect.

Really sums up how DC has been mismanaged long before the Sneeder nonsense.

Agreed except Ultron isn't a knock-off Brainiac. Ultron was created as an evil robot, while Brainiac was originally just a really smart green alien that was later retconned as either a full robot or half-and-half cyborg depending on the writer. One of the reasons I didn't care much for Man of Steel was the re-use of Zod again and even the only potentially good part (Kryptonian-on-Kryptonian violence) was surprisingly kind of lame by Snyder's standards. You have Superman vs. an entire battalion of evil Kryptonians and Clark still ends up just fighting Ursa and Non knock-offs plus Zod himself.

If they aren't going to recast Lex when ever they do a new Superman movie then they better replace him with the Ultra-Humanite be it his human or ape form.

Manchester Black would be a great villain to see but not one you start a series with.

Amazo and Professor Ivo would make a good set of early villains

I thought we're not supposed to post comics here for some stupid reason so I didn't talk about it, but recently DC fucked over Young Justice (cause the Weissman animated series wasn't enough) & Batman, their price hog (not even an exaggeration, top 48 out of 50 DC titles are Batman related) through wokeshit & retardation. This is from Dark Crisis: Young Justice #2.

images-6.jpeg
Some are saying that she's talking about Robin/Tim Drake, Superboy/Conner Kent, & Bart Allen/Kid Flash/Impulse. Also, this is the actual Cissie Kent/Arrowette saying this, to Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl. NOT the fake reality Conner, Tim, & Bart are trapped in.

This led me to do some research on the 3 characters to understand more than I know, & apparently, In the original comics Bart was raised in virtual reality to keep him from going insane because his accelerated metabolism made him look 12 by the time he was 2. Conner was a clone who I heard outright had kind of a shitty life until a few years before they rebooted. Then it got worse between 52 & Nu-52. Then there's Tim, that despite being born rich was basically ignored by his parents until his mother was murdered & his father paralyzed, & later gets murdered too in (I think?) Identity Crisis. None of them are privileged.

Also, Cissie King did have a shitty upbringing & only got into superhero'ing due to her Mom who forced her into it for likes. She apparently went through a character growth phase where she got out of it, she ironically sounds like said Mom here. However, Arrowette quit being a hero because she was half a second away from killing a man in cold blood. Basically what happened is the doctor that had custody of her was murdered. Arrowette hunts down the killer & proceeds to re-enact the murder. The killer was begging for mercy & unarmed. She fires an arrow right at his heart, & would have killed him if Superboy hadn't caught the arrow. I guess that was toxic of him. She also later became an Olympic gold medalist in archery after said retirement, so much for "muh oppression" & shit.

One more thing, while some what irrelevant to point out, Cassie's life was actually pretty good despite being in a single parent home, due to having a successful archeologist for a mother that brings her to her work trips & supports her superhero career (apparently Tim's parents were archaeologists too & they sent Tim to boarding school?), & apparently a god for a father. I don't know if she does anything apart from listen to Cissie's bullshit here, but I just put it out cause Cassie herself doesn't seem to have a shit life either.

I know most of these through some synopsis reading I did half a month ago due to how garbage these panels were. Please correct me if I'm wrong here somewhere

HERE'S MICKEY! Mickey Mxyzptlk, son of Mr. Mxyzptlk, built the "perfect world" where he and the boys of Young Justice could rule without being criticized, without having to change, without ever having to grow up. Mickey has an ugly soul and too much power. The boys of Young Justice will have to overcome their shortcomings and defeat him to get back to the DCU they know and need!
TL;DR: This is a false reality created by Mickey Mxyzptlk. Mickey is the "greatest fan" of the boys of Young Justice & their 90's run & thinks they should stay that way. So he created a false reality to send them back to "how thing were". If you still didn't understand, it's the current Author accusing fans, AND the 90's authors of being racist, sexist homophobes.

One more thing, this is the same writer that made Tim Drake bisexual. From what I've heard, she's obsessed with making him the new Batman, tho he never wanted it before.

I checked later, unless there's any changes in the last 20 days, at the review Comicbookroundup, even the critics don't like this issue. It's the lowest rated comic on the website other than Bendis' Justice League vs Legion of Super-Heroes. From what I've seen & heard, it's actually funnier than usual when you get low rating on comicbookroundup, cause that place is filled with shill "reviewers" who give every comic a positive rating, so ya, this issue was that terrible.

Also, I also went to the DC den of Predditors (DC comics subreddit) to look into the response on this issue. Most people hate it as well. Even seen highly upvoted comment calling it a "bad tumblr fanfiction" comic, heck, even people on looney twitter are hating on it.

Though some idiots trying to say that it's fine (& good, like what?) cause this is a "nightmare world", but even then this issue is filled with OOC meta commentary "dialogue" that is so on the nose, it reads like characters just speaking retarded twitter takes instead of talking... & the writer clearly has no idea about who these characters are & their past, i.e. the type of writers DC/Marvel love hiring these days.

What are the chances that the movie is just really boring, and this whole shtick is an attempt to get audience interest for when they discretly release it on HBOMax? That or they are hoping a #ReleaseBatGirlFilm similar to the SnyderCut movement?
Funnily enough, there is one hoping & wanting exactly that. It's actually related to the one thing most Marlel shills & Snyderseethers combine for, the Snyder Cut.

I learned about it from this retarded article.
1659608377313484.jpg
If you don't know, this is another hit piece made by Tatiana Siegel, the same Rolling Stone reporter that made that previous hit piece bought by the old WB execs about the Snyder cut being pushed by bots. She hates Zack Snyder for getting her fired from The Hollywood Reporter.

1659610350907242.png
As you see above, there's indeed a documentary, but that documentary was approved & made by the previous WB regime

1659610693580810.png
As seen above, the reason Siegel is pushing this article because she's angry over Batgirl being shelved by Discovery, since Batgirl was one of the most important projects made by the previous WB regime since it'd be the first DC movie set in the post-The Flash rebooted cinematic universe. In that article tweet I posted above, she's pushing the idea that Snyder fans should be displeased about Batgirl being cancelled because Batgirl was set in the "Snyderverse" which everyone & their mothers knows is false.

She's literally trying to gaslight & guilt-trip the fanbase into pushing the #ReleaseBatgirlMovie hashtag. She isn't the first reporter/critic to try to do this.

Not just her either, several of them have been trying to do this since news of the Batgirl cancellation hit. I haven't seen any Snyder fanboys falling for this shit, though. So I don't see why they're even trying. It is not like Discovery would care about a fan movement since he's writing the movie for tax-offs.

1659610792231839.png
One more thing is that even Christopher McQuarrie, who once almost worked on Man of Steel 2 & on a Green Lantern Corps movie (I'm actually upset about that not happening), is calling bullshit on that.

By the way, if you're thinking I'm overreacting here, she's actually obsessed with Snyder by going as far as to say that he might've been friends with Epstein.

She also wrote a whole hit-piece on him with nearly no research.

She's also somewhat of a Joss Whedon fangirl.

I'll archive all these later.

Seriously, Snyder might just be the Trump of DC on how every wrong thing is just him being boogeyman. Seriously, last time they blamed DC Comics not having an office & relying on hotdesking on him & his films instead of them not stopping their modern comics being shit.

No, Zod and not-Lex forever.
I don't remember it well, but IIRC, Brainiac was supposed to be the 2nd villain after Doomsday for the 2nd Justice League.

It was meant to be the Legion of Doom for the 2nd Justice League with them winning leading into Justice League 3 with Darkseid and Evil Superman.

Did hear Brainiac throwing around for a second Man of Steel but nothing was really ever done with that outside ideas from what i understand

I could also be confused with the Brandon Routh Superman which was supposed to use the Brainiac as it's 2nd villain in it's supposed sequel. God that film was shit.
