Tbf, spoofing an email sender address is less than trivial. Spoofing the correct IP less so, but ip geolocation in the UK is shit, so wouldn't be much help.

Doesn’t anyone have a verified way to contact her to ask if those emails are really from her mom (or if they have any merit)?

In other words, she should at least be able to verify the email address. At that point it could help limit suspects.

Null has said talking about contacting her off site is a ban. Also...asking someone suspected of faking emails whether they did it or not is a pretty smol brain way of trying to verify.
