I really enjoyed Prey. Though to be fair, I’m not looking for historical accuracy in a movie about alien trophy hunters.
I blame modern politics injection for being able to hear all the dogwhistles they kept blasting.
-Who is best? Stronk Woman of course.
- Comanches electing war leaders. Lol. No, a comanche war leader was a guy who said "I'm going to go fuck some shit up" and convinced some people to come with them. There was no 'election' and leadership lasted till you got back to camp or someone else said you were fucking up and took it from you.
- Comanches totally just out being good boys and spreading the word of the Earth Spirit
- Who are the bad guys? White guys obviously.
- Ignores trapped woman. Makers forgot that P2's latina got off because she was preggers, but women having uteruses is racist and sexist in current year.
- Bison Herd Skinning in 1719; the photo-op bison carnage didn't happen until the mid 1800s when there were higher (and more powerful) rate of fire weapons, basically weapons you could use from horses. Voyageurs wouldn't have killed more than they could have carried and would have been processing the bison down into travel rations for the trip back.
Again, alien trophy hunter movie except these are just more anti-white "can you believe how much white people rape the enviroment unlike the native americans and chinese?" stereotypes while the
goddamn Comanches are shown as progressives. At least do something believable like Mongols if you're pitching Stronk Women.
Only good points of the movie was they didn't take five minutes to explain how Chunkith is Two-Spirit and how much that is respected by the tribe and the implication she gets wrecked in couple days by Yautja Jim Corbett.
You just chilling out, murdering babies, hacking off guy's limbs and then putting them belly down over a smoldering fire to slowly and painfully die while you and the boys laugh at his screams. Only to have some technologically advanced beings from far away show up, kill you, steal your shit (that you stole), and 300 years later, just give it over to some nigger.
....Actually I have changed my mind, clearly Prey is the most historically relevant allegorical film since Birth of a Nation.
Based & Phosphorus Pilled.
It's getting a ton of praise over the "respectful" take on Comanche native culture, lmao
Pretty much this.
