On this point specifically, if someone is a pedophile, but has the restraint and self-awareness to never act on their compulsions, is that inherently a bad thing? Is that something to mock and deride? I will never argue for MAP rights, but it does seem to me that being a MAP is simply another mental illness, albeit a perverse and socially damning one.
Further, although boogie does lie about a lot of things, given his age I assume that if he was an active danger to children he'd probably have tried something by now.
Additionally, if we take the claims about his past to be true, I can absolutely see the neurotic mind of an abused child internalize the fear of repeating their trauma even if they themselves do not harbor pedophilic tendencies. The fact that humans are capable of that at all, and that by extension, boogie is a human that comes from the blood of two people who are pedophilic, it's certainly possible that that alone scares the living shit out of him. If I was in his shoes, I'd probably be unbelievably confused and terrified of both humanity and myself.
