The handgun part has me scratching my head.

The gun registry still exists for restricted firearms, which includes all handguns, so the search warrant specifically looking for that handgun does not come as a surprise.

What does come as a bit of a surprise to me is that means someone in that household has a R-PAL. Getting one is a similar process to buying a handgun in the US - background check by police, reference interviews, and generally making sure you have a valid reason to get one (target shooting will be the most common). Self-defense, by Canada's own weapons laws, is not a valid reason to get a handgun.

I'm just saying that, if Keffals is saying they got that gun for self-defense from evil transphobes, they are lying.

Hmm, do swattings typically result in electronics being confiscated, even after the police determine there's no active threat? That seems more like something that would happen as result of prior investigation and filing an affidavit to seize the electronics with evidence of the suspect visiting CP honeypots. Either way, we love our cops and so forth. Too late to throw the SSD in the microwave.

So...slowest swatting in history:

August 5th
(per his script, which holy shit actually says things like "show property bags" and "show copy")
6am - email to all city counselor's saying they killed there mother, have an illegal firearm, and will shoot every cisgender person

6am - 4pm - police start investigation into the emails and charges as well as obtain a warrant from a judge

4-9pm - Police raid his house, take him to the station and put him into custody. (presumably constantly calling him Lucas and laughing at him)

August 6th
Video is posted to his YouTube talking about how things need to change and how noone takes the hate he gets seriously but pretends that he wants to bury the hatchet and move on from the haters. (presuming this was edited and scheduled to be posted and not manually uploaded, this comes off as a weird video to keep up with the current news)


So some faggot sends an email, the police begin an investigation, after which they seek and are granted a warrant to search the home for very specific items.
Seems like alot of people that would have had 2nd thoughts about randomly breaking in the door of some troon that previously ran for office.
Is it possible that the police/judge allowed all of this to happen essentially because of a spoofed email address? Yea, but very unlikely.
More logical that during the investigation they came across other things (please god let it be this thread) that they thought they could prosecute and went ahead with the warrant.

When the video first dropped, I believed that Lucas was genuinely shaken by his encounter with the LPD. His closed body posture and self-soothing gestures (for most of the video, he was cradling himself) seemed to indicate that he was frightened, if not stressed. I don't blame him either, because having the police bust into your apartment and take you in for questioning because someone pretending to be you made threats to commit an act of terrorism, would have me pissing my pants too.

However, Lucas shamelessly running to the media and tripping over himself to do interviews with any journalist who would have him really sent the old noggin' joggin'. For someone who fears for their safety and literally thought he was "going to die", he really doesn't seem too concerned with putting himself out there. Couldn't bear to pass up an opportunity to paint himself as the martyr and lap up all of that sweet attention n' tugboat coin, I guess.

You would think that the LPD would return the seized property once it became (as per Lucas) evident that the murder + terrorism plans were made up by a troll. Maybe the investigators are playing it safe and going the extra distance to rule out the worst (for instance, I don't know why Alex's devices were taken along with Lucas'). Police are known to be slippery and deceptive bunch. They only care about getting what they need for their case and just because Lucas was released without charge, doesn't mean they don't have a reason to keep digging.

Discord jannies DFEing aside, Lucas seems pretty confident about the whole thing and is milking this incident for all that its worth. I'm waiting to see if Lucas is brought back in for more questioning, because that could be the beginning of something really interesting.

What kind of legal action is Lucas planning on taking anyway? Is he hoping to go after the guy who sent the emails (which is well within his right but good luck finding them) or is he really gunning to sue the police for following procedure and doing their job?

The more I think about this, the more I think this was a CP raid and the claims of being swatted are a smokescreen.
