General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Wait, is Shiina the girl Pippa had on for the last Tera stream, or is it just that everyone in the space is a sad girl alcoholic?
Nope, different lady....but yeah I think they all drink. I just wanna throw this out here while talk'n Shiina: that guy Spooki has a long history of being an obnoxious character on VT, long before the PL Shiina harassment stuff. Just searching Spooki on the vt archives shows endless call outs for being a scitzo shit and same fagging. I had no idea who he was before Shiina debuted and he re-dumped his 60+ page failed defense of his behavior. I think Spooki is still the occasional Shiina anti that posts in /PCG. I mean, everyone loves Shiina right?

Here's a good summary of the harassment dump from the /vt thread by @reinigen. Keep in mind he did it twice, once after thier falling out (or whatever) and once after the phase 2 preview dropped.
Seems one of the mods crossposted part of my post here from the other thread, without providing the context.

This is in relation to the /pcg/ - Phase Connect General - thread on /vt/. In it, people have been causing drama because one of the newly premiered Gen 2 Talents is presumed to be a former indie named Shirara who A) accidentally let slip she has a boyfriend and poorly tried to cover it. And also B) got stalked/harrassed by autist who she treated with professional courtesy as he was a vTuber as well, but seemed that he 'developed feelings' for her. The context is they (autist and Shirara) would chat and be standard weeby back and forth, and both said 'flirty' things at points. He seemed to be the initial instigator of the flirting as well from evidence HE provided. But in that evidence as well is her saying to him (a direct quote) "I flirt furiously but romancing is off limits and I know you know that..."

This guy seemed to be a creep toward a few other vTubers in the indie scene as well.

So, anyways. With that out of the way, chatter about the new talent being Shirara showed up in /pcg/ and someone went "Oh look, Spooki (the autist/sexpest) is mentioning something about Shirara" and posted that screenshot.

However, if you check the icon in the screenshot above, you see the poster who is logged in is Spooki's alt Twitter account. Meaning the autist was drama posting about himself.

And that's the context behind mine and Wandering Lurker's post.

In summary:
View attachment 3424518
Don't know if the 60+ page things is still around but there were some gems in it. I know somebody else posted it here somewhere, but it's a conversation where PL-Shiina is scolding Spooki over being rude and saying Mc Donald's is gross... it's SO FUNNY, I think of it almost every time I'm watching Shiina.
Edit: Found it and stole it:
mcdonalds.PNG

Also during Shiina and Rie's love advice when Shiina was saying something like "If you mostly stay home and play games you want girl who stay home plays games right> So meet girls in discord..." no Shiina NO! That's how Spookis get made! They need to go bother Irl women who can mace them until they learn!

Oh hey it's time for Shiina!

I am seeing a lot of victim blaming on victim of grooming and I usually don't jump into conclusion until I am 100% confirm Pipkin dox is real. However if this is true and her boyfriend groom her, doesn't that mean that Pipkin is the victim. Grooming a 13 year old and blaming her when she is being groom at 13 is victim blaming. We usually go after the groomer not the 13 year old that was the victim. I also want to add most victim that are groom do develop stock home syndrome.
I haven't really seen anyone in this thread shitting on Pippa herself for the grooming thing it's more about the fursuiting and seeming hypocritical by being someone who has bragged about reporting groomers and exposes creeps but is in such an arrangement herself.
Most of the Pippa shitting has been on /vt/ where hilariously they're still doing it but even then it's primarily focused on Zax for being the creepy groomer.

In the end though she's an anime rabbit girl portrayed by a real girl of questionable mental stability so it's not exactly something anyone should be crusading about lol

Interesting learning about Shiina. I have come to like her more as a streamer I just still hate that fuckin model for obvious reasons.
Are... Are there any signs she's a furry? Is she safe to watch? I've been hurt before (Fishman HATE)

I feel like the tempus bros are underrated as far as numbers go, they’re actually all good streamers, I don’t like Axel but I get the feeling he will come into his own like some others. Holo doesn’t really hype the stars much, so it’s not entirely too surprising to see the New Niji wave getting more subs more quickly. I suspect once this month of 1 hour streams is over we’ll see the boys collab with the holo EN/Ollie and their numbers will start to increase quite quickly. I don’t think they’ll ignore the EN penis Havers at all.

A worthy opponent for lean Mori
I absolutely love this girl's aesthetic. Does she stream on YT too?

The only thing I've seen Shiina thirst for is Geralt of Rivia.
Speaking of Shiina, I'm not sure if my memory serves me correctly, but didn't she say that her and Airi knew eachother for 10 years? I think it was during the beginning of the second Outlast stream.

Yeah I've even come to enjoy Grampire and Virgin Paladin which at first I figured would be the two I'd avoid. They all have some good qualities and it's a nice change of pace. Favorites have probably been the L4D Collab and the fight crab match between Axel and Magni. Magni seems like he has the best balance of talent, hoping he hasn't already fucked up his voice. Axel is dumb sometimes but entertaining. Altares best moments are when he's trying to be the leader of a collab but ends up just being a doofus and Grampire has some serious deadpan.

@DrStupid Nice post.

A couple things you can add that have come to light since her debut during her zatsudan from her art streams.

She mentioned working for Tesla (if I remember correctly as a technical writer) , they had 2 rounds of layoffs at the CA plant in late 2018 and early 2019, so thats why she may have a bone to pick with them.

One of the problems that she talked about near the end of her PL late last year was lower back pain and carpel tunnel due to art commissions she was working on, In her drawing Chibi's stream she mention that prior to working for PC she had done commission for Fishman and suffred those same issues during his commision and that when she told him about it, he had sent her a top of the line tablet easel so she could avoid those problems going forward and continue to fulfill his commissions.

I have yet to meet a straight female who doesn't thirst for some incarnation of Geralt, tbf. Dude might as well be Chad of Rivia.
That's interesting. 10 years? Wonder if they started as IRL friends or something or if they've just managed to be gamer friends for that long?

Fishman you might be nice sometimes but you still don't get a pass for rolling me by making my favorite gentooer a fucking furry

She mentioned that she had known Airi for 10 years prior to getting accepted by PC during her Drawing Chibi stream. Due to Airi's inexperience with streaming/vtubing I betting she knew she had the skills and told her to apply.

She's in her mid 20s and is choosing to stay with her pedo-groomer. No, it's not victim-blaming to call out this perplexing behavior.

@DrStupid I think you did a good job with your introduction to Shiina lore. I have a few suggestions though.

With the spoiler 'Shirara/Shiina IRL', you should fix it where someone doesn't have to directly download a .webp to view what your referencing too.

Also, you discussed the boyfriend thing before if you liked to reference it or link to the video you are referring too. has the video, detail on what occurred during and after, while also giving a tidbit about other notable moments she had.

Overall, Think you did a good job providing insight to Shiina's history with multiple sources referenced and keeping it neutral and just stating facts of her history.

Really like reading posts like this that just keep it short and to the point of something and provide links if you wanna dwell deeper into it. Good for newcomers to a individual or event who aren't well versed in it! :semperfidelis:
Thank you man. TBH, I made sure I downloaded the IRL pic as a PNG but it seems I uploaded the Webp copy I had. Webp hate.

I made some edits based on your recomendations and also uploaded the videos directly instead of just attaching a web.archive copy (because playback still isn't available on those) :semperfidelis:

I haven't seen her Outlast streams with Airi, but I do remember that pseudo ASMR at the cafe where she mentioned she had experience in programming.
She also recently tweeted that she played the violin semi-seriously before but has since dropped it and that she keeps up with the "scene".

I'll be adding all of that. Thanks for the feedback.

I honestly keep forgetting ILUNA had also debuted, but then again they don't strike me as interesting so I haven't tried to watch them much either.
Not to be that guy who screams about numbers and metrics, but they aren't doing great when it comes to live viewership. Most have evened out to a flat 1k or lower. Better than your average indie for sure, but when you consider the peak viewership they got for the debut streams compared to Holostars, the pre-debut sub ratio surpassing all prior Niji waves and even the sheer amount of airtime they got handed (a fair number of talents went on vacation or took part in additional work requirements since the debut) and it's got to sting a little knowing you can barely match the yabbing fish.

@DrStupid

As Shirara, she debuted around october 2020 and streamed exclusively on twitch, with a model she illustrated and rigged herself. During her time as shirara, she managed to get between 60-100 viewers, while streaming 5 days a week and looked pretty active on social media.

When Calli premiered her song "Off with their heads" she got the Thread's attention as one of the many indies that took offense with the song's lyrics and trying to justify her shortcomings. A short time later she flipped perspectives and took the song as a challenge and a catalyst to improve her content and herself (tweet capture).
As a footnote about this, unlike MANY Envytubers, she was always vocal about her respect for Calli as an artist and merely referred to pointing out her issues with the lack of support (corpo vs indie)
I remember that, but I have to say that if she was actively streaming and pulling those numbers she was very much not part of the crowd that OWTH was addressing, even if she might have felt that way. Even actual 2views, let alone "2views" like Pippa/Yuni who hit triple digits back then weren't the targets, it was all the "pre-debut" vtweeter crowd.

well, they're already exceeding expectations, ours, theirs, and I'd wager even Hololive's.

I hope they grow for sure, but I think it's better to not instantly blow up to a supermassive level. healthy and organic growth is generally better than viral hee today gone tomorrow explosive growth. It lets you actually grow an audience based more on you and what you want out of an audience rather than just heaps and heaps of bandwagon fans that just dropped in for the new trendy thing. There's extents to which streamers can curate the audience they want and that's just harder to manage with rapid explosive growth.

So as far as I'm concerned they're already a proper success, now it's just a matter of keeping that growth going.

I wouldn't say they are underrated, aren't they getting better stream numbers than most of ID rn?
Kaela is hitting between 2000 and 10K depending if she’s playing minecraft or not it seems, but I haven’t been paying attention to ID or Niji numbers. I don’t usually look at any numbers but sub count. And that’s what I’m referring to primarily is sub count.

I should clarify as well, they’ve clearly knocked it out of the park and are by no means at all failures, I think they’re a massive success as they’ve all been very well received. Which is why I suspect their numbers will jump once they begin collabing, the girls will introduce them to a larger audience than those who where initially interested in the first place their first month.

Idk if it’s true either but I’d suspect the more subscribers they get the more interesting things they’ll do. If they keep a steady growth- and it sure seems they’re interested in constantly improving as streamers- they’ll continue to surpass expectations.

Don't YT algorithms or some shit get really fucky if you blow up suddenly and don't maintain some of that growth constantly? I remember seeing youtubers talk about the stress of suddenly blowing up and then declining once their viral success tapers off without them actually doing anything different besides maybe play a different game or something.

I think Tempus is doing extremely well given their JP Senpai's usual success, they'll probably pass the majority of Holostars JP by the end of this year save for maybe Roberu. Which honestly makes me kind of sad, as I like a good amount of JP Holostars when I can actually know what they're saying, but I just don't know Japanese myself so my exposure to their actual channels is very limited and few people clip them often.
