I think it's obvious that he's in a space filled with degens who have a ritual where they give the same boring, nonspecific praise over and over again because there isn't much to really praise him on. Keffals may have been in on it during the catboy ranch days, may still be, but now that he's in this state of decay, he's mostly just a backdrop for the others. It could've been "real" crying, but it'd be crying prompted by severe mental illness. The same way a mental patient can start screaming and crying out of nowhere.
