Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Anybody watch the new TMNT movie on Netflix? My nephews both loved it to bits apparently. Saw the trailer and the animation looks really good. Some of that dialogue made me roll my eyes though.

Seems Bee and Puppycat is finally coming to Netflix, but this time it's a complete reboot.
Seems interesting...
Speaking of dialogue, Bee's VA managed to sound worse than before. It's nice the animation got an upgrade but if means tolerating female Pauly Shore again, I'll pass.

I did not care for Bee & Puppycat in the end. The first installment at least had a little charm but apparently the creator ran out of her supply of charm real quick, and it got very stereotypically "hack Tumblr cartoonist" very quick. I remember looking at the Kickstarter and then the pilot which had interesting character designs but soon they introduced the new design and characterization of Bee which had turned her into a stubby mentally retarded adult child. If it got better or changed after that, well I had stopped watching really soon after.

What is a cartoon that only you remember - only you saw it when it was new, nobody else remembers it, and anyone you try to tell about it thinks you made it up?
One night, many many years ago, Cartoon Network had this block on where they were airing nothing but Canadian Cartoons. The last cartoon they aired was a music video featuring talking cows singing what I think was a western song (or at least using a western/southern accent), and it ended with some dude in his house sleeping. For me it was weird because the cows were all drawn in different art styles, one of them being paper cut outs with either human eyes/mouths/both.

Not sure whether that actually happened or I was having a fever dream. But one of the other cartoons was a man trying to get rid of the cat that went along with the song "the cat came back the very next day".

You know what, I'm sick of the culture war crap, so why don't I ask everyone in this thread a question for fun?

(And happy 31st anniversary to the first three Nicktoons.)
Stoked always seems to be fever dream to most where they remember it in pieces, but never what the title was or much of anything about it. I used to watch it at 8 back in 09 along with Total Drama Action. I always thought of it as lesser 6Teen, but actually rewatching it, it is so much better than 6Teen. Too bad the show only lasted a season out of 2 in the states. Great series taken too quickly.

Robotomy is another show that doesn’t get mentioned much, and probably for good reason. It definitely fit the mold of an Adult Swim program moreso than a CN production. It and the Problem Solverz kinda got killed by seemingly being on the wrong block of the channel.

Scaredy Squirrel is another oddity I remember being quite good. It barely lasted in the early 2010s, but it was a respectful adaptation of the books.

Anyone remember DC Comics’ magical girl anime? As part of DC Nation, the 1980s comic, Amethyst of Gemworld got an anime inspired adaptation that they made video game inspired?

Honestly, CN just has a large catalog of forgotten IPs.
  • George of The Jungle (2007)
  • Almost Naked Animals
  • Sidekicks
  • League of Super Evil (or as I put it, not Strongbad?)
  • Hot Wheels Battle Force 5

League if Super Evil (or as I put it, not Strongbad?)

...

Holy shit, you're right.

Has anyone posted this yet?

Because previous Looney Tunes movies didn't fail hard enough for some people.

Daffy Duck attempts to step into the lead role, but his star ambitions are quickly sidetracked when he is kidnapped by an obsessive fan who has more sinister plans for her favorite stage duck

'Her'. Huh. I have to give them props for not going with someone who, well, looks like my avatar, TBH.

Unless it's a troon.

This is supposed to not only have original songs, but some old songs from musicals Warner Bros. owns - among them, interestingly, 42nd Street (and I assume they'll use "Shuffle Off to Buffalo").

Probably this is just me talking, but there's one song from Gold Diggers of 1933 that I hope they use because it'd be perfect in this film.

It's probably due to licensing which is why CN never used these IPs anymore. It's sad because Storm Hawks is still kino.

Hero: 108. In retrospect it was really weird and I've never met someone that really remembers it, but I remember being decently entertained by it as a kid.

Beat me to mentioning this one.

I remember watching it at like 5am on CN in the early 2010s. It was weird as it had an online MMO if I remember correctly. The only game I played was the tower defense on CN’s website.

The biggest thing to remember about this series is how absolutely OP Chud-Li is. Chun carried the team hard to the point where I think the entire team would just sink without him.

Didn't Nick also reject Hero: 108 when that was original released as a Nicktoon pilot, so when CN picked it up, it only dumped to air for some early mornings after Adult Swim (like say, after a repeat of Home Movies or King of the Hill)?

I just find it unsurprising that current day Teen Titans GO! is making the original Teen Titans irrelevant, or acting as if they never existed on their TV block. For celebrating 30 years on Cartoon Network, they really don’t want new viewers to pay attention to their old shows that made them successful on their own.

It‘s no different than the 2016 PowerPuff Girls reboot in my eyes being memorable than the original. (Not to me, though, since I always have love for the original one.
