Oh I agree that he was already a scumbag, just as we see with (some) of the catboys fine tuning their autogynephilia. I guess I have just seen these perves rewrite history so much it’s very difficult for me to believe a word they say, especially around sex because they’re deviants.

To devil’s advocate myself, this is where my brain struggles to categorise these creeps because I think it’s worth noting that almost all of these AGP’s are very aroused by rape (both as the predator and as the victim) and it’s extremely believable Lucas used one of those nights against him. Yeah, those are fair points. I just can't help but feel that the ex's attitude towards Lucas Roberts says a lot about how they view the entire situation. Their relationship is sketchy at best, but I can't help shake the feeling that the ex is just dumb and optimistic and that led them to getting played by someone who we know was groomed as a child and now grooms other children.

But on the flipside, I can admit I might be too focused on that specific aspect and it's keeping me from seeing the whole picture.

I wouldn't use their arrested development as a valid reason to believe them, remember first and foremost he is an autogynephile. There's no possible scenario where a 30-year-old troon had any sense of genuine innocence or purity when ‘naively’ perusing a relationship with a teenager. Yeah, I kinda botched my wording there, as we all know the troon community is incapable of viewing the world through a reasonable perspective and someone that was most likely in that community for any extended period of time would likely believe in the lies they repeat. It's a lot easier to see the malice in what Lucas Roberts does because we have the broad strokes of what his life as a troon was like and the degeneracy that proceeded it while the ex is more of a mystery.

Maybe the ex was fully aware of what they were getting into but underestimated Lucas and suffered for it. At the very least I feel safe in assuming that Lucas did lie to the police about the rape charges because he clearly knows about the ex's story coming out but hasn't disputed it yet.

There's a good chance that the ex is lying, either knowingly or has simply started to believe the lies themself, but the most important parts are likely true.

That doesn't seem possible. Lucas doesn't have the ability to plan, he's far too impulsive. He didn't manage to take his week long vacation from the internet, didn't manage to stay off twitch to stand up for trans rights, didn't make any changes to his online security despite having several meetings with the hacker known as 4chan, etc.
