General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

It looks like that Nijisanji EN is opening another audition again. Another male focused audition, but with a new caveat that they "specifically" seeking out Gamers-focused talents.

Not unusual to see them opening audition just after the new wave debuting, but it's interesting that now they want a more specific-focused talent.
I am not a resident nijisanji expert so everything i say is essentially bs but i thought their male characters mostly succeeded through appealing to the wamens, seems like they ain't afraid to experiment with trying out other audience types then? It will be interesting how successful they are or if the fujos are the actual big money.

Also one of Sony's talents leaving after just a month, i don't even know or care who it is but if anyone here does here you go: "Prodigy child" lol

Back in 2018/19 that was the joke in Japan. Their pace back then makes EN look like nothing.

Niji JP males have mostly male fans, Niji EN males have mostly female fans.

An experiment seems like a fair guess. And as mentioned previously the Gamers wave on the JP side ended up being one of their most successful waves in the long run, though I really don't think that was particularly due to gaming lol.

They're probably going to do a VSPO/Neo Porte and attempt make an actual Pro Vtuber team, which HoloGamers was supposed to be until they realized none of them can actually game.

Could be, but the short audition time might work against that. Like I suspect that would be a bit more of a longer project.

In any case, the first person who came to my mind when I saw that tweet was iPN. I wonder if he would apply, and how it would be handled if he got in considering that he's already really well known by NijiEN fans. If it weren't for that fact he'd seem like an ideal candidate - a kinda washed former esports pro.

It's Anycolor, they'll have auditions for girls soon enough.
I think this is a bit of an experiment, like Ethyria. While Ethyria was all girls and was for pre-made characters, this is all guys and for "gamers."

You're right, I just had a Woman Moment. I agree with Scuttle's assessment that this could be to fill out Wave 7, since them going back to single sex waves would be really surprising.

Interesting. This could be for Wave 8, but with such a short deadline it could also be that they want the opposite of ILUNA to be sweaty gamers and they didn't have enough male applicants who fit the bill (in other words, this audition is to supplement the female gamers who were vaulted for Wave 7).

With the exception of Aster who is pretty good at FPS, the others are either singers or talkers. It would also make sense that AnyColor want to tap into a new male demographic for their male talents like Aia, Scarle and Maria tapped into a female demographic.

Given that a lot of Indies I watch are not only Niji fans but also FPS monsters, I'd hope this is either a supplement audition or a precursor to a female-only gamer audition. There's one Indie in particular that I won't name who I would put money on getting in.

Application form says any gender can apply but you'll be expected to rep a male character.

Yugo was actually scouted by the company for the male audition.

I don't have the skill or desire to play a male character unless it's Eudrick. I would be honored to play the man himself, the legend...

But now that I had my pouty moment, I'm pretty excited to see what happens. I know a lot of dope male indie VTubers, so I hope I can at least see someone I think is cool and fun make it.

Not gonna lie, I want to see this happen if NijiEN is willing to do it. But eh, they might just go with a simple wave than a pro gamer team.

Charge your dang phone, jesus.

Bold of you to assume it'll just be Vtubers.

Also, holy shit, learn to use thumbnails. If you don't feel like backspacing the full pic after image insert, then just add it as a file attachment and choose the thumbnail option that way.

With an incredibly short deadline of a little over two weeks too, but I guess since this comes with an exact idea in mind, it's easier to sift through the ones they aren't looking for.
Are thumbnails for some reason not working? The tweets in these posts are so big they actually zoom out when I click them.

Just in case.
Thumbnail reps are in order

Okay but how much of a "gamer" does one have to be to stand a chance of joining? Be a pro, or just play games a fuck ton and still be pretty average at them?

Unless Noor is here nobody can say for sure, my guess is the latter though. I mean they'd presumably know that all the many JP auditions didn't result in many actual "pro" gamers, and any signed pro is just gonna stay with their current team instead of becoming a vtuber. The best case for pros is kinda washed people, like Lauren's PL, IPN, maybe some of Selen's Overwatch friends, etc.

To be fair, I don't think you have to be good at games to be more 'gamer' than someone who is. Korone and Okayu in particular have a really expansive repertoire of interests that go well beyond playing what's currently massaging the live viewer counts.

That's certainly true, but contrary to popular belief the company's mission statement has always been about having variety because casting a wide net is better than pelting the same finite number of fujos with more people to split their money across.

It's not like all 13 boys are Fujo panderers but maybe the company have decided that they want some more 'Gamers' in there to take some pressure off Selen and improve the overall gameplay quality in collabs and stuff. Selen could really benefit from not hard-carrying FPS collabs and facilitating big events on her own.
