Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Edited to say she's so lucky that despite being totally for real BLIND, whenever the camera is on her, she's capable of appearing to look directly at it with both eyes. Other, less inspiring blind people actually look like their eyes aren't seeing anything, which is disturbing to observers and one of the reasons they wear dark glasses. Man, some people have all the luck!
If anyone is interested in what a deafblind person can accomplish, here is an interview with Haben Girma, a deafblind woman who graduated from Harvard Law. At the start of the interview she explains how she communicates, deafblindedness in general, and her specific experience of deafblindedness.
Obviously disabled people do not "owe" anyone the details of their medical history, but you'd think someone like Alexandra who is so intent on educating would be more willing to share her personal details.

I would think that a doctor would use Dermabond (cyanoacrylate glue) for a circumcision, if anything. It's a fiddly place to suture and nylon is a weird choice of material anyway.

I knew a guy who got circumcised in his 30s and reported it was absolutely as bad as you would expect. This particular patient is obviously a maniac though, considering he let a BLIND PERSON near his penis with a scalpel. Unless...but no, it couldn't be. Could it? Almost like she may not be as "blind" in real life as she is on the Internet, eh?

Off Topic Circumcision sperging.
Makes you wonder if certain cultures, like jews, developed the tradition of infant circumcision as a way to prevent having to do phimosis correcting circumcisions way later in life when it was riskier?

OT.
Alexandra is obviously becoming a doctor for 'overcoming disability' clout. And unlike say a Paralympic athlete or someone painting with their mouth or fiddling with their feet, she's never really going to be able to perform her chosen 'feat'. She's more like those high functioning Downs Syndrome kids who manage to get college degrees.

I'm working on a write up for a lovely babe with a mobility aid who's starting to amp up her antics. Any tips for formatting so I don't make a huge post ugly and upset everyone?

In Donnie Darko, there's the bit that "cellar door" is this beautiful sounding/reading combination of words. My old lady proposed the antonym of "cellar door" to be "Victoria Guyadeen Only Fans Account." I'm not taking it well.

You can find a post you would like yours to emulate, then quote it in the text box so that you can see exactly how the poster formatted their text.

If you're including lots of screenshots, take care to thumbnail each image (ask/search for how to do this if you're unsure how) to preserve bandwidth of the site and the users.

Also put large amounts of images behind spoiler tags:
spoiler text
Nobody wants to scroll past dozens of screenshots.

A blurb at the beginning briefly explaining who your cow is, what their health claims are and what their antics entail is helpful. In this thread I've seen a lot of people just dump a bunch of screenshots of uninteresting munchies without context or telling us why we should give a shit. Remember, you're going up against some real fucking crazies who have had body parts amputated, organs transplanted, or munched their way to an early death.

I saw a quote the other day that sprouted a small theory. "Eating disorders never go away, they just shapeshift."
We've discussed many times how anorexics will "recover" and become munchies. What if some of these women, who are likely more at risk to develop anorexia (or other restrictive EDs), instead developed Munchausen's?

After lurking on pro-ana twitter in search of content, I saw a tweet asking "who else wished as a child that they would get really sick?" and a horrifying amount of responses from young women (probably 15-25 years old) saying that they often fantasized about that as a child. Some admitted to thinking about it as an adult too. The ones who gave reasoning said that they wanted attention or to be cared for.

The primary demographic of eating disorder patients and Munchausen's patients are young women. There's a significant overlap in risk factors. I couldn't figure out how to make a venn diagram, so here's a list:

Risk factors for eating disorders:
- Certain personality traits, namely perfectionism
- Family member(s) with an eating disorder and/or other mental illness
- Participation in activities like dance, gymnastics, modeling, etc.
Risk factors for Munchausen's syndrome:
- Serious illness in childhood
- Family member(s) with a serious illness
Shared risk factors:
- Being a young woman
- Low self-esteem
- Identity issues
- Other mental health conditions; depression, personality disorders
- History of trauma (childhood or adult)
- Parental neglect

I know that I'm not articulating this as clearly as I would like to, so hopefully someone smarter than me will take this thought and expand. ETA: I'm more awake now.

There are many motivations for restrictive eating disorders that aren't just being conventionally beautiful. A large reason for them is gaining control when someone feels powerless over everything else in life. It's not unfathomable to think that someone trying to control their life would start faking or causing illnesses so that they can avoid certain triggers/stressors. There are also anorexics who are trying to become sickly looking and therefore physically repulsive in an effort to avoid sexual abuse, maybe munching is another path towards that goal.

The parents are bastards for feeding into her delusions. I think Vic may be mentally ill, rather than an extreme attention seeker.
Mom is either the stupidest person alive or Vickie runs this account to make her bullshit more believable
Yeah, I've talked about this before. Victoria's mom is a true believer and has blogged about her daughter's 'illness'. Her dad is apparently more skeptical. They don't have a particularly privileged background. Her father is an immigrant car dealer and I don't think her mother had much employment history. They're highly religious lower-middle-class normies who are very offline and whose worldviews don't include the things Victoria's does or ours do.

I've given my read of Victoria before, that she seems to have some sort of mental illness/delusional disorder and plausibly was actually sick at some point before spinning off into crazyville. She's an unusual munchie in a lot of ways, which is what's so interesting about her. It's understandable to me that her mom fell for it. It's hard to comprehend that someone can be as sick as Victoria presents herself, and have her obvious signs of illness like cortisol face, and not be that sick at all -- especially if you don't have any context for people doing this kind of thing.

@GenociderSyo and @Kate Farms Shill are exemplary examples of both post and OP writing. Tons of researching, everything archived and organised in case of DFE.

I would guess a mental illness or disorder.

Just thinking, but could it be possible her mum feeds into it to stop a spiral where she's either violent or threatens violence. Or has been in the past so mum walks on eggshells to placate her creating the delusional demon validated online. Whereas dad is hands off because a) fuck that shit and b) she's a lying liar who lies and he knows it.

Interesting short video of 2 people who want or have had their legs amputated. The second person explains how, made me think of Kelly at first.
The full video has the woman who wants to be paralyzed say she has fantasized about crashing her car to be injuried with the presenter sitting next to her in the car, on the highway.

The mental institution made the mistake of releasing me again this morning, so here I am, very late. Ms Carnduff blessed us with this riveting Sickstagram post on Friday:

“Yesterday, I put a poll on my story[1] asking if you invest in rest & self-care when you are approaching your period; I am honestly so surprised to see that the majority votes “no.” (blood drop emoji)(crescent moon emoji)

I completely understand it’s a privilege to have the time, energy[2] & ability to partake in self-care, especially at this time of the month, when our energy levels plummet.

But it made me sad! Uterus owners deserve to have this time to ourselves[3]... to turn inwards & care for one of our most sacred spaces.

As you approach your menstruation phase, it’s SO important to take time to yourself… to give yourself some love. It’s naturally time to retreat[3].

Surrender. Let it happen[4].

Here are a few easy ways you can show yourself some kindness during this phase:

<3 10 minute YouTube yoga flow
<3 guided meditation (I use Insight Timer)
<3 face mask (store bought to save energy)
<3 contrast shower
<3epsom salt bath
<3 exfoliate with a DIY scrub (olive oil + sugar works great) & shave (if that’s your jam)
<3 20 minutes of reading for pleasure
<3 go for a walk[5]
<3 take a nap[5]
<3 go into nature[5]
<3 tidy your space
<3 check on thing off of your to-do list[6]
<3 hydrate (orally, intravenously, through a tube, etc.)
<3 put clean sheets on your bed
<3 watch trash television (or TV in general)-- the Housewives Franchise is my favorite
<3hammock in your favorite spot
<3 earthing
<3 tarot cards
<3 text your therapist if you have heavy feelings

Do whatever makes YOU feel GOOD!

I would love to see what you do for yourself while you prepare for your period[7]. Post a photo or video to your feed/story and tag me!

Happy Friday! (emoji)(emoji)”

[1] I wish I hadn’t seen the poll, but I did. I wish I hadn’t written down its contents, but I did, too. I didn’t take a screenshot.
++. Thursday’s POLL: “Do you invest in rest and self care when you PMS?” (“Always!” Or; “No, but I should.”) visuals of the “story” promote her actual Instagram post of August 11th. Says her period is giving her uncomfortable symptoms, so she (I wish I was joking) “did some yoga in nature to massage [her] internal organs.”

[2] But, Ashley, you constantly tell your audience you’re devoid of energy.
[3] Most uterus owners aren’t able to halt their entire lives every time they menstruate. For most people who mensturate, pretty early on they to learn how to continue their responsibilities while menstruating.
[4] Surrender, the only other option is to die dishonorably from neglecting your womb space.
[5] Is it “self-care” if Ashley does it almost everyday? At what point does an activity go from self-care to daily routine?
[6] Taking care of necessary responsibilities that have been stressing you out is actually a good act of self-care. This should be higher on her list.
[7] Ashley still doesn’t seem to grasp the concept that most people who mensturate tend to continue the majority of their normal day in spite of menstruating. This isn’t applicable to individuals who experience debilitating menstrual cycles, due to endometriosis or PCOS, but Ashley has only described mild side-effects that should not be debilitating for an adult who has experienced menstruation before.

I don’t menstruate, so I showed Ms Carnduff’s post to some uterus-owners who say they do, and they were very confused. I took the post to the owner of the uterus that grew me. I chose her insight because the number of years she menstruated is greater than the number of years Ashley Carnduff has been in existence. She shared this wisdom with me:

“What kind of princess bitch is this?”
And
’Prepare for your period’? Periods are like phases of the moon; they’ll come whether you’re ready or not.”

Your mom is right. Anyone who prepares for their period has too much time on their hands. The proper adult response to a period is for it to take you completely unawares, despite having happened every month for decades.

Women. The word is women. Not "uterus havers" or "people who menstruate." Only women have a uterus and only women menstruate. Fuck out of here back to reddit with that TRA ass language.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think @Drain Bamaged is only using that retarded turn of phrase to emphasize how retarded it sounds in Ashley’s OP.
