I'd guess Chris' <18 taboo is the same as the no prenuptials taboo. Chris sailed right thru into legal age without any perceivable understanding what that entails. In a RL sexual encounter, Chris would either not give a fuck about an underage partner if this is not obviously visible, or uphold the 18+ in a ritual fashion and literally to the minute.
These are the sort of social constraints that Chris' brain is incapable of figuring. Chris has shown disdain for age of consent, but there seems to be some hard limit to outright pedo. There is no focus on lolis either. So Chris seems to be grasping (albeit a bit loosely) the biological concept of sexual maturity, but the concept of age-of-consent is one step too much away from raw biology and out into cultural conventions land where the Normie sub-humans roam. Faced with such a dilemma, Chris will do one of 2 things: Either discard the offending constraint entirely, at best keep it as a mere token devoid of any meaning and content. Or weave it into the Sonichu universe prominently, and mystify/sanctify it.
Chris needs simple rules, and he needs them to be consistent. If they are based on nebulous social conventions, he might understand the hard rule but not understand why it is there. It is especially hard for him if the rules are different for different places and different people.
For instance, in his raging against Jason Kendrick Howell having a 17-year-old girlfriend, he claimed that the age of consent in the United States is 18, when it is in fact 16 in the majority of states (and indeed in almost all of the states and territories surrounding Virginia). He could only understand the rule as a hard rule, so he assumes Virginia's rule applies everywhere, when Virginia is in fact the anomaly compared to most of the US or the rest of the world.
Second, if you read about Jason, his location was in Tennessee, where it is 18, but Jason and Kathleen were within the close-in-age exception for that state. This is also something Chris could not understand.
Chris only understands in rules as absolutes, right and wrong in black and white, and if a rule goes against what seems correct to him, then that rule is unjust.
He cannot comprehend rules that restrict him not restricting someone else.
Example: Bigamy taboo. A social convention that is in itself not out of any biological necessity. But there is an underlying biological necessity: to not fuck around too much, lest the ratio of caretakers to infants becomes too small to ensure sufficient transfer of cultural information, leading to lineages going extinct in the most hilarious and stupid ways.
The rules against bigamy/adultery/polygamy are more for a couple of other reasons.
Illegitimate children have a hard time in life. Even if there's no laws concerning inheritance, etc., fathers usually do not feel good for caring for the children of other men, and mothers often do not like caring for the children of another woman.
It's also because it ensures that more people can be successfully coupled. A peaceful, sedentary society with large numbers of single men becomes unproductive and sometimes unstable and violent. (If violence is no issue then the men just kill each other off until there are fewer single men.)
Warlike societies or tribes in areas facing dangerous conditions don't need these rules because the men just get killed off as a matter of course.
These are considerations that are beyond Chris' ability to grasp, of course. But then, most of the rest of society isn't able to either, hence it being presented as the will of God. Chris' inability to grasp the reasons for rules is not unique, it is only extreme.
Maybe Bob gave them a small amount of cash as a thank you once, like after the birthday party or something, but the idea that they were on the payroll is ludicrous and nonsensical. The idea that high school girls, a generally catty group of people, are going to accept petty cash to be nice to a dumbass for years, actually be nice to him, and manage to not ever let the secret slip to Chris make zero sense. It would never work. The whole thing is clearly a coping thing cooked up in Chris’s crazy brain.
Chris gave a very clear description of what happened with Natasha, so at least in her case it was definitely Bob paying her for friendship with Chris.
It is, until you realize Chris brought this upon himself, and Bob ignored Chris' worst tendencies and didn't do anything until it was too late. If Bob was alive, I think Chris still would have raped Barb. Keep in mind Bob and Barb were sleeping in separate rooms.
Perhaps it could have been a threesome.
