Artemis is a great example of the $10,000 model thing. While back then his model didn't cost as much, the medium has been growing and demand is higher prices go up so I would equate his model to be in that price range if we use today's standards. The fact that he got as many subs as he did initially is a massive point against the "just stream whatever bro and git gud" mentality. He had a head start in subs and his model being as good as it was helped get people get through the door. He basically bruteforced his way through the marketing barrier and the content barrier.

A large part of Artemis' initial numbers was because of a very extensive campaign of pre-debut shilling on SNS, often by accounts using very similar wording. The same applies to the first wave of posts trying to downplay the poor entertainment value of his after the first streams happened too. It's obvious that he networked hard and had a significant backing beforehand - probably a dedicated Discord clique.
The model did carry him quite a lot though but I think what definitively killed his momentum was the holopiracy case and the obnoxious way he'd try to insert himself into other streamers' chat.

I think what is more amusing to me is that I was doing a ton of research on the importance of names, origins and whatnot at the time for the auditions a few months back (yes, I am cringe and autistic like that, let me be) and so the combination seemingly fits. In turn, I am a big fan of names that have some form of alliteration.

Gladys:
Welsh origin, which bears the meaning of royalty (princess); conversely, it has been speculated to originally be from the Latin diminutive "gladiolus", meaning small sword.

A term often used by weebs to perform a lunging, over-the-top, and potentially dangerous hug that often begins with a running start, like a tackle.

Yes, I agree, names are very important, because they can be very influential in your fanbase name, your twitter tags, and any jokes down the line. 35p, pain peko, SSRBs, hyaku-whatever Salome, etc. I think it's admirable that you're doing research.

But Jesus christ, using "Glomp"?
You might as well use Ponyfucker, Sasukexx69 or Republican/Democrat in your name for the same effect. I don't think glomp should be used unless you're trying to be a joke vtuber like VShojo's Hime, or to cultivate an autistic furry cuddlebox fanbase. Yeah, it's been a great series of matches. Having the EN watchalong this year really increased my level of investment in Koushien, though I did watch it last year too.

Sasaki vs Shiina is a fun matchup due to their history together, and it's even better now that it will be Vox Yashiro vs Vox Akuma as well. And Kuzuha vs Lize is a good lineup for the finals, given that both of them did rather poor in their first Koshien appearances.

That was right around the time she released Q with Gura. I remember because at the timestamped moment (1:36:25) of this stream, Calli starts listing words that rhyme with "queen", and at the time I could have sworn she said "lean" to subtly make fun of the weirdos, especially since Gura laughs a bit harder right after she says it. (Listening to it now however, she may have said "spleen". I dunno.)

On another topic, I'm starting to see clips like this, and they just make me sad. It's Coco and Rushia doing the same stuff they did in Hololive, only now they're all alone.
