General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Just work Subaru's soft butt into this and it'll be complete.

Is that before or after an unhinged and jealous Noel sodomizes her with her mace?

Are you sure she's applied?
It could be that simple. But there's no way Chloe (or whoever) was the best singer they could have selected in two JP gens. I'm not saying any of them were bad choices but if they wanted to hire a great singer, they could easily have and opted not to.

At this stage, I suspect the big two aren't looking for the most talented applicants (in whatever way one might measure that to begin with), but casting for roles. Roles which are more loosely defined than acting roles, but roles nonetheless.
I'm sure that's part of it. But man if you have the opportunity to pick up someone this talented, I don't see why you wouldn't. You work around it and fit them in. (And I guess Nijisanji doesn't even recruit anymore on the JP side. Salome being an exception.)

Damn, this dude is loaded. He dropped 950 gifted subs (aiming for 2000) across two streams to Shijou Yuri who I posted about earlier and just dropped 100 on Yoshika. Not even sure if I'd call him a whale at this point since he doesn't seem to care to interact with the VTuber much or care who it is. Just a big tipper:

There's usually a noticable gap between JP waves (even with the 'accelerate' model) and they've been focused on the EN branch for now right now since VTA kind of covers what normally would be new waves. There just ironically wasn't a need to pump out a new JP wave yet, Salome kind of takes the spot for now.

They're doing fine, just not as well as people expected them to do.
Wait a second lol. Gotta recalibrate here.
I don't think I agree with this assessment in general. However, before it gets way too lost in the weeds, Azchan's post specifically stated that many people thought they would be a huge gamechanger. I was only questioning that statement because I feel like most people overwhelmingly expected them to be either above average at best or just plain average at worst. Ironically, I actually do believe they were a huge gamechanger in the end. Them joining up seemingly unlocked the collab potential of Myth. Myth has too many socially retarded girls whereas Council seems to be much more sociable in general. So not only did we get more interactions, but the variety and quality of them is much better than pre-council. IMO there's a clear difference in how HoloEN operates since Council showed up.

Now, whether they are performing to everyone's own expectations is a much different discussion. My perception is that they are performing just fine and have actually exceeded those general expectations. My own experience was seeing posts in different places that were less rosy and more doomy on them both before and during debut time. So to me it seems like they are outperforming what I saw some people posting. However, I think most people assumed they would be generally successful just as most people in Hololive are, and they seem to have met that expectation. I think people were excited and apprehensive about new girls showing up, but I don't think most people expected them to blow the doors off the hinges or anything. Personally, after 3 rounds of pretty good hiring decisions, I'll always be cautiously optimistic that Cover will bring me good talents, but there will always be some apprehension within me about new Western people lol.

I do think that gal is pretty talented. It's just that I wonder if she is happy doing her own thing. Also, even if she did apply, I wouldn't exchange any of HoloX for her. Using Chloe as an example, yeah she's a very good singer, but she also has amazing stream presence. She uses her different facial expressions better than most other Hologirls, and her eigo isn't 0 so that's always a plus. Like Rhialtokourai said I think they have to look beyond just general talents and into the more subjective realm of how good they might fit in with whatever group they are building.

This is what I meant by regardless they are doing fine. It's hard to really forget how much hype was being built around a 2nd gen of HoloEN especially based on a few graduations around the time (and after) auditions for it opened that you can tell people really expected them to capture lightning in a bottle. That's why purely focusing on numbers usually leads people to thinking black/white and not so much the fact what got brought in.

Which is why in my own experience, I enjoyed council more than what myth basically is, you can tell Myth is 'by the books' in a way with Ame being an outlier and a lot of the council interaction feels a lot more natural in comparison in ways.

I think the main issue with people's perception of Council is that they focus too much on the subcount, if you look at other metrics (ccv and probably superchat), they are keeping up with Myth.

Speaking about subcount, here's one thing that annoys me greatly, it's the double-standard surrounding it. People constantly downplay Gura's achievement, saying "subcount is useless", "ccv is more important", "Pekora and Marine are more successful than her", then immediately turn around and shit on Council for having relatively low subcount (nevermind the fact that they got culled the worst) and how HoloX shits on them.

Educate me good sir. What was the expectation? I don't think there's a single fan that thinks that they will do as well as myth.
I'm not going to throw out my opinion on this but when people use terms like 'expectations' and 'projections' in a context like this, they're usually referring to the company and not the fans.

People are using the exact same thing against Council as others do against Noctyx and ILUNA: their numbers were lower than what people nebulously think is the company's baseline and therefore it can only mean they have underperformed. Expectations are relative, and so without knowing exactly what the companies expected from them based on established precedent, it's hard to argue one way or the other.

They have VTA.

It's audition-based, but if I was a scout I'd be low-key hurling an offer at Tadano Rei to join because she's got it all, and if she somehow didn't pass she could just return to normal streaming.

By the way, VTA did ask for people with streaming experience to audition for Gen 2.5 which means that it IS possible any of these Indies could have been accepted if they applied.

Kiara signed a post-it note in some Korean store she visited called ANIPLUS, on a big board they put up that fans of her can leave a post-it note on.

It was then promptly stolen.

Kiara is hopeful that it was a misunderstanding and asks that it be returned.

Company expectations? How can we even know that?

I seriously don't remember any hype around them. There are some meme here and there about the lore when they drop the trailer but those are not exactly that big no? Some actually complain about the lore if im not mistaken. By your logic do you think nijiJP fans or anykara think any solo debut or new JP wave of nijisanji will be as big as salome?

Last VTA gen was pretty solid in my book so i think is working somehow

Company expectations? How can we even know that?
If we go by what people actually believe are the company expectations then Holostars JP is a failure for not even breaking 200k subs after all this time and having sub 1000 CCV, is just people pulling numbers out of their ass and always using the main cashcows of both sides as a metric

We can't, which is why discussions shouldn't extend beyond idle speculation.

I could speculate that the three-week lore buildup and higher prestige of artists/riggers for Council inferred that Cover expected lightning to strike twice, and you could disagree because you speculate that their performance couldn't possibly be below what theyl company expected because they're performing well.

In the end, both of us would hold a reasonable opinion, but neither of us would have that killing blow to prove the other wrong so discussion after the opinions are established would go in circles.

The events for August aren't quite finished yet! Ryushen and Seffyna are hosting a 24h karaoke marathon featuring members from all of the branches.

Jp don't really work that way. They knew exactly what Salome symbolized and what new waves typically means.

This is probably what I'm most looking forward to since that and Selen's Fall Guys (like or hate the game) company wide tourny really does seem they're trying to get everyone interacting together much more than in the past.

Speaking about Niji-related event, it seems that on the Niji Koshien-side they wanted to do an exhibition match utilizing all-stars players from both leagues and also 1st year students/choices that didn't see much action during this year Niji Koshien, slated to be on 26th August. I can't really confirm it since it's mentioned during the near end of the finale stream and I had to rely on a twitter post that gave a short tl;dr explanation about it.
