General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I think there's something of a language disconnect here because "irrational but the reasoning is sound" is a contradictory thing to say. And when you said before they were justified it would mean it's good or legitimate, which goes against the acceptance that it's a delusion on their part.

this would be like if my grandma got scammed over the phone by a "nigerian prince" needing her to transfer him money and I said "well her reasoning was sound and her choice was legitimate"

It's just..... no, idiots that fall for stupid shit are still idiots even if there's an explanation that led them to making that stupid choice. The choice itself was stupid regardless of the circumstances leading up to it. If someone becomes a retarded unicorn because they were pandered too, they aren't suddenly in the right, they're a fucking mark that fell for the bait, which makes them still retarded. the person themselves feels justified, but that too is part of their delusion.

Key point here being that explanation and justification are two separate things.
Yeah, possible. I'm ESL and hungover so it's most likely on my end. I believe I ultimately agree with you on the part about setting expectations but I don't think blaming only unicorns for being spergs is right.

I don't fault unicorns for getting mad when the chuba they invested their feelings, time and money in supporting - even if it's extremely dumb to get that attached to someone online, especially when it's an uneven relationship where monetary compensation is involved - goes against the image they inferred from the agency's reputation and they weren't corrected by the talent on what exactly to expect from her. It's about as much about the betrayal of expectations as about a sense of having been taken advantage and made a fool of - which makes it personal and justified even if they're still morons. If you go to a vegetarian fast food join and are served a burger that is one of the few that contains meat - and you aren't informed of it - you're absolutely justified in being dissatisfied.

Hololive definitely made an impression that it's pandering to the "purity" type of an idol and knowingly profited from courting that audience even if they tried to distance themselves from it when the… obvious problems with that approach started cropping up. The jokes about YAGOO's idol dream didn't come from the void after all and the way they manage their homos only reinforces that. This is what I meant by the default unwritten contract - the expectation that there will be no males in the picture is already there and it's on talents to indicate otherwise, in a sufficiently tactful way to not come off as abrasive. Some do it to at most minor backlash, some were straight about the expectations from the beginning (like a certain diamond in the rough), some just avoid the topic altogether until they can no longer afford ignoring it.

There are many reasons why unicorns are allergic to males but the ones thinking they somehow have a chance - as someone mentioned earlier - are a rare breed of a unicorn that's beyond help. A big chunk knowingly play out a fantasy where the 2D girl they like on the screen is supported by them and any disruption of this illusion (I guess I mixed up the definition here, delusion would be when they no longer are capable of recognizing reality *sigh*) is an unwelcome disruption of the fantasy and a possible reminder of their own social or relationship troubles (especially if flirting, thirst or even a good chemistry between the collab partners is involved - something beyond the capability of many unicorns that only serves as yet another sour reminder of their social inadequacy).

Finally found hard proof that Ueda Kana, VA of Tohsaka Rin is going to be a Collab Vtuber under Nibiru

Reine: "Mommy?! The Japanese aren't letting us into the country. My friends and I need a 3D studio!"
Reine's Mom: "Anything for you, dear."
Reine's the last person I'd imagine would drop dead and just do the job cover isn't willing to do. The person you describe would fit Ollie better, if at all.

The way I see it is that Hololive's appeal is in a way pretty similar to "cute girls" anime like K-On. People watch those anime to see cute girls, and those girls generally exist in entirely female spaces. Some go far as to have almost no males at all (Love Live quite notably after like the first season). Others may have guys in the background or as the occasional side character, but the general impression is that penis havers will never be a part of the female in-group that is core to the dynamic of those shows.

That's what Hololive more or less is. Guys can interact with them, obviously, but the Holostars will always be guests allowed in to that female space for short periods of time rather than a part of a mixed gender space. Hololive members can form close, "in-character" relationships with people entirely outside of Hololive (ex: Suisei with Inui Toko), but not with guys. You are probably never going to have a dynamics like those between Millie and Fulgur, Reimu and Ike & Vox, or even Selen & Vox (who aren't especially close, but are totally comfortable joking about whatever when together), between a HoloEN & a Tempus member. If there is something like that it'd probably be with Calli given her personality. Hell, even with Nijisanji one could argue that such dynamics aren't super common in JP, but instead are more prevalent in EN and ex-ID.

That being said I also think the Ame unicorn thing I think is mostly a red herring. I suspect it's mostly just /vt/ trolls larping as upset fans to drum up shit, similar to the whole Pomu/Finana/Uki thing with NijiEN a few months ago. I don't think Ame's degree of interaction with the guys is enough to justify unicorn rage. There probably are some unicorns out there who are genuinely upset - you don't get to 1.7m subscribers without picking up a few weirdos along the way - but I don't think the vegetarian/meat analogy is applicable here.

is that autistic sperg because of hangover as you said yourself or straight up MATI at "people" on internet? like for real?
and yeah they are not responsible for some random schizo fans or anti specially with the fact holo are not pandering to those unicorn,if its rushia and vox then yeah they are partly responsible for their gachi and fujos, they are pandering to it,but fubuki with stars member and you want to say "she is responsible for some random gachikoi"? thats just dumb.
You are probably never going to have a dynamics like those between Millie and Fulgur, Reimu and Ike & Vox, or even Selen & Vox
i don't know what are those "dynamic" but i want to see what is the base of it that you can say holo can't do it like its specially "exclusive" for niji or something and the whole vox/nijiEN fujos come for the girls showing that those fujos not okay too with those what you called "dynamic".

My favorite dynamic is Vox popping up in Nina's members stream completely unannounced and Nina's members malding that what was supposed to be a private experience has been invaded.

is that it? then what part of it like its some "mandatory" for vtuber? or as its like a fact rather than some people taste? for example,if there is a solo streamer/vtuber,want to solo stream, prefer to solo stream and don't want to collab except for some special event etc,so we have to "FORCED" that vtuber to collab? for me the good thing about holo or "F U N" is their choice.

you want to be fubuki? "fans are FRIENDS" and will collab with oga if he she want to(who cares about gachikoi right?) then good, but if there is pekora or gura don't want to collab or prefer solo stream etc you want to forced them is a "good thing"? for me that is the worst and i'm not even gachikoi or care about parasocial thing.

i forgot which stream, but there is a vesper stream when he talk about "collab",why people collab,WHY PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO COLLAB and he explain it perfectly thats why those unityfag/collabfag are dumb.

Now that is pure idiocy. No wonder all the girls are stuck jumping on the stupid game of the month thing they have going. Sounds horrible for a streamer.
I've found myself watching less and less streams from Holo lately. Everyone is playing the same thing half the time. I've started gravitating towards Niji, smaller corpos and indies. I'll still watch when they play something that interests me..but that's been few and far between lately.

At least the Tempus boys are branching out a bit with Spore and Zomboid.

I don't blame only them, I just don't absolve them of their own responsibility for their actions. If folks like Rushia play with fire with the GFE and have it blow up in their face, that's their fault too, but that's a separate matter and not relavant to where this talk started.

Ok so to start with since you mentioned "the image inferred from the agency's reputation" here and talk about Hololive's image a bunch it'll be a good place to start here. The assumption by default that Hololive girls won't talk to boys requires one to not actually pay attention to the company, There is at least 1 member of every single hololive generation except Gen 3 that interacts with Holostars or dudes outside the company. that alone should be enough for people to stop assuming it to be the default of every girl in the company. As for the Seiso thing and the talk of Yagoos dream jokes. Yeah, the joke relies on the fact that hololive has never actually been pure in the sense that it's used there. Hololive only existed for 9 months before Matsuri joined if we want to go to extreme examples. Hololive has always contained very "unseiso" elements, hell even Sora doesn't consider herself Seiso. they put on the idol outfits and sing some songs but anyone that thought "oh they're pure" wasn't paying attention to Matsuri pissing herself on stream and talking about assaulting lolis. Choco casually chatting with Tamaki about wanting her sexual needs fulfilled. Suisei larping about eating human hearts. Subaru collabing with Maimoto from Nijisanji in the first week to eat spicy ramen, or any of the other myriad examples I could offer. They do idolshit in spite of the fact that they are unidollike 90% of the time, that's what the "joke" is

There's no smoke and mirrors at work there, if you just watch some streams you find out you aren't getting "just pure idols" long before anyone should be getting "attached and investing their feelings" (which that unhealthy level of parasocial attachment is an issue all on it's own) the only way this bait and switch could happen would be if they somehow became that attached just from seeing some idol cutout advertising or only seeing a musical performance and never seeing an actual stream and if they're getting that invested and attached there than that's a whole other can of worms level of problems.

and see here's the thing, that's all some pathetic shit and I will 1000% blame them for that. These are streamers, not their therapists meant to provide them a safe space because they can't cope with even the idea of the streamer they enjoy talking to someone they don't want them to. Those types need to listen to the hagsmith and "Get some help" Yes, people often use entertainment to cope with shit, but in this case that entertainment is another human being that you're dumping your baggage on, not just another TV show.

I'm not ever gonna give this kinda mindset even an inch of validation by trying to act like such a mindset is justified in any way. To do otherwise is just enabling this kind of faggotry.

And if the response to not having their mental inadequacies catered to is just to become a virulent faggot indistinguishable from an anti? then they deserve the rope.

There's about 12 variations of idiot of /vt/ that could be a segment of this.

The general anti-EN chuuba segment that will take any opportunity to shit on or stir shit with Non-JP chuubas from any company. "Just watch JP girls they know how to treat fans" and constant bitching about "westoids"

NijiEN antis that think talking to dudes is going to make HoloEN "be just the same as NijiEN"

General shitposters dramaposters (they need new EN members to bitch about from time to time not just Calli 24/7 afterall)

Actual Unicorns (there's enough of it there on /vt/ that some number of them statistically are probably serious.

I will say though there is an extent that I welcome the idiot troll portion of this because the more they prod the more people like Bae and Ame will just keep dunking on the unicorns which just keeps making the distinction clearer and clearer. Like the troll that got Kronii to talk about collabing with Tempus on stream before deleting his account the very next day. Excellent work, they just keep making the girls that respond filter retards out of their own viewership.

This may be hypocritical as I am an ESL too, but please take some english lessons. This is giving me secondhand embarrassment.
I've realized with time even calling him ESL would be incorrect, because it would imply he's competent enough to list it as a language he speaks.

To add to Fauna: she's done some watchalongs too, some Ghibli movies and all of Komi-san. It's been a while since she's done any member ASMR though.
@Fireflies, I have the same slot opening up; but I'm already a Faunatic, so the slot is easily going to IRyS.

If it is between IRyS and Fauna, Fauna rotates between art/zatsu streams and game/zatsu streams every two weeks. IRyS has been doing anime watchalongs recently, but also did zatsudans before that. She is not as consistent, probably due to her schedule and recordings, but she does them at least 1-2 times a month.

Thank you friends. Would you happen to know what each of their Chats are like?

Having usually watched IRyS, my general impression is that her backseating fanbase just kinda like getting farmed for superchats. Although I like how often Pako seems to turn up in her streams, plsu Bloom and Gloom coming in later.

Honestly I havn't really watched Fauna until recently since she's rarely in my timezone, but from what I've seen, I'm starting to see the Seison't energy that we often seen from Sana

Then there's the bloody boomer grampire, who either streams during afternoon work hours, or 3 bloody am. No idea when his memberships may be.

So the conclusion I'm coming up with is, just member all 3

Update, it's time for people going home from work and school, so expect lots of selfies and pictures from the spot very soon. Looks like the reception, at least in both Twitter and Facebook, are very good with lots of people wanting to go there just to see it

And this was in Busan, no wonder someone stole that decoration in Seoul, it must be chaos there
So, HoloKR when?

Two Ame streams in one day, it is a good day. I find it hilarious how it's only taken two Rust streams for her to be better strapped than any of the other EN members I've seen, the detective is a troo gamer

Edit - further proof of Ames gamer status, she's already broken the gambling mechanic
This really feels like Minecraft 2.0 for her. She was talking to Gura the first time she streamed RUST, who had asked her if she was going to stream it more often, how it's not really something for her and she doesn't like the slower paced games.
