Careercow Scott Raymond Adams / @ScottAdamsSays / “Real Coffee With Scott Adams” - The Washed Up Cartoonist Behind “Dilbert”, Creator of “The Dilberito”, Professional Bullying Victim, Political Grifter, Terminally Online Narcissistic Boomer, Divorced Twice, Is (Not) Glad His Stepson Overdosed. This is Not a Racial Politics Debate Thread

Is Adams a Transhumanist or a Futurist? He seems to use a lot of transhumanist talking points, such as the "simulation" nonsense, and sperging like that stuff you quoted is very common in transhumanist circles.
I don't know if he has explicitly used those terms to describe himself, but pretty much yes. He has made comments here and there about the typical mind uploading cope.

Also wow.... that metafilter drama is from a decade ago. So it's true that once a cow always a cow huh.

It's a shame he's such a fucking asshole on Twitter today. He definitely has autism in how he can't realize how fucking offputting he appears by dismissively writing about his dead stepson.

The Dilbert UPN sitcom was actually fucking brilliant cartooning and holds up remarkably well. I really wish there had been a timeline where it was put alongside the Fox animated sitcoms of The Simpsons, Futurama, and King of the Hill. Alas Family Guy got that spot and became an institution. Oh well. I do imagine Larry Charles (Seinfeld) deserves much of the credit for the Dilbert cartoon.

@ditto ,you mentioned a Nate Silver when Adams' "probabilistic thinking" was being discussed.

You called it. Seems Scott follows the guy on Twitter.

Good call.
Also, Scott's ludicrous "No.1 best predictor in the country during the pandemic" is top tier lulz.

Scott Adams: believes putting effort into good parenting doesn't achieve a thing.

Also Scott Adams: believes shouting his birthday-candle wishes into the void achieves everything.

A pity. I have his book Dilbert and the Way of the Weasel, which is pretty agreeable if you have a streak of cynical misanthropy running through you. Talking about his weird theories, though, I recall he took a diversion in the book, into his strange thoughts on gravity. Something to do with the expanding universe theory?

Scans later. If I remember. And if I can give a fuck.

Mostly minor notice here, but he seems to wear the same 3 shirts. How often does he do his laundry and/or shower?
Remember, he didn't wear a tie to his own wedding.
Back in the 90s or early 00s he used to go on about how he had several copies of the same outfit to avoid the extra work of choosing one and that he hated ties and thought they were intended to restrict thought or somesuch.
I think he said this in some of his books and probably also on his blog. I don't have the time to look it up at the moment.

Finally! That op had a ton of good info, now I understand why getting a thread on this dork up was such an undertaking. Great job.

I'm a bit sad dilberitos failed because a big selling point for them was that they were like two bucks and usually more edible than whatever slop the school cafeteria was selling while I was in gradeschool.

This is like Andrew Dobson level discourse. Goddamn.

Dude most people already know about sticking a finger under your nose.

And I'll pay a lot more attention to his "cure" for OCD once he stops acting like he has it. Maybe it also involves the placement of fingers. I'm not sure I want to know.

I started and stopped following Dilbert Man after he flip flopped on a daily basis during the 2016 election. He’d offer a spicy opinion and then he’d disavow the moment too many people called him out…then he’d disavow the disavowal the moment the heat went away. He was convinced the blueprint of the 2016 election was a book called Pre-Suasion by Robert Cialdini. Anything Trump or Hillary said that day was linked back to that book. It was clear that he was just saying and doing whatever to inject himself into the conversation.

I’m not sure why he ever married Kristina Basham. He had it right by just dating her. I’m sure he thought she loved him for him and not the $75 million that is supposedly his net worth. At that point, just date/bang all the Instagram models you want. I’m sure his ego demands that his delusions be catered to and that women love him for him. Even with a pre-nuptial agreement, it’ll cost millions to part ways with her. That could have paid for all the thot models for the rest of his life.

The Robot Chicken skit would've been funnier if Scott Adam's were relevant enough for anyone to incidentally know his views on race.

Did he say anything specifically to inspire that? Or was it just a throwing dart madlib of What if __ were ___? That landed on Scott Adam's and Racist
