I am gonna make it quick, because this thread is not about it.It's never been "morally questionable" until about 10 minutes ago. Older men have been marrying (much) younger women since the dawn of time. A 30yo pairing with a 14yo used to be the norm. Still is in many parts of the world.
It's simply incorrect that it was "common" for men to marry 15-year-olds, in 1600 normal age of marriage was 20-22, between 1800-1900 it was 26.
Rich and royals would "marry" kids as economical and political agreements but would normally not live with them before they where older.
I personally have no issue with a 19 y/o marrying another person around the same age because it's marriage.

Just because it "happens", does not mean it was the "norm".
Also life in 1600 despite being harder and more dangerous was a lot simpler, women would have kids and work in the field or small jobs, we are a lot smarter now which also means we need more time to develop to match our society.
