It might just be that Derich is one of the only people who is genuinely friendly and nice to him. Derich has been a fan for so long and probably has some of the most interactions with Phil of anyone

Whats the alternative, Dave is suddenly a nice person? I think rich watching and believing the gacha claims openly was what got to Phil. He's been able to just dismiss it publicly with the "detractor memes" comments because you had to come to the farms to see the evidence until secrets video but once rich, a much larger "content creator" and someone who had gotten closer to Phil than most, believed it, he realised that he can't just handwave it away but can't come up with any meaningful responses.

• He's already eligible for credit and has been for some time
• Even if DSP couldn't get credit, Khet was not included in the bankruptcy and therefore should have options to get credit
• Credit is not a magic money tree (unless you are the US Govt) and he would need at least as much in tips (more if he's paying interest) to pay back the credit that pays for things

With DSP there always has to be an external reason he's struggling. If you can just get him over this last hurdle, he'll never need to ask for tips like this again.

EDIT: Or Phil genuinely believes this. It's another case of the "Burnell Problem": is DSP lying or is he just really fucking stupid?

I get that the rainbow question is some serious puzzle piece shit and that Derish is intellectually disabled, but man DSP a terrible conversationalist. It's not like this response was an aside from an interesting story that he went right back to telling after answering Derich's burning question. 50% of the stream is dead air, 40% is him giving commentary for the blind, and 10% is snorts, belches, throat clears, and goat laughs. Could you try to engage with the question a bit? Maybe tell a story? This is the audience you cultivated (albeit not intentionally).

Don't know if he forgot how much he was making back then, or his expenses are somehow bigger now post-bankruptcy but one thing I know for sure is he completely forgot how uncertain this streaming shit is as a job. He might be stressed out beyond belief but the only actions this translates to is begging and hoping.

Worthless stress and emotions unless he channels it into getting out of the shit he's in, and we all know he isn't doing any of that.

I love how Phil has lost all concept of what a gamer is.

When you make it your job, or even your hobby, it's easy to lose sight of what made you love it in the same place. I can see that being an issue with people who review games/movies. At one point, you only see models moving around a 3d space interacting with hitboxes and events, or in the case of movies, you see actors performing but can't get into the characters. It's important to take a break or go back to basics to immerse yourself into the good stuff. Phil is most likely at a point where he is disgusted of the simple concept of video games. He looks at them like a piece of shit task he has to do. Like a chore or a homework or powerpoint presentation he has to put together. But keep in mind that he is the most legit gaymer and realest motherfucker on the internet. The recent streams make me hope that we are close to a breaking point. I sure hope he goes full mental tonight.

But you can be sure that today he will be showered with money again because he hammered it down his whales throat that he NEEDS that money. They get an amouint of satisfaction giving their gout lord his tithe and we get some entertainment from "low tip Phil" I mean I think we all more or less agree a money deprived Phil gives the best entertainment.
