Poor use of "everyone" on my part. Most here had realistic expectations & isn't taking it as a personal loss. I was referring to those (mostly twitter) speds who always used the " wait until appeals" argument and acted like if vic won appeals everything would go back to how it was, funimation would fire everyone and the entire future of anime hinged on Vics appeals.
So what now? Vic got the worst outcome, KV won, everyone will have reason to ditch him, Matsuri projects may be dead in the water now, Sony builds a monopoly, and Vic will be hounded for money until his death with the only reason he won’t be driven homeless is because of Texas state law. And KV moves to their next target who won’t have as much defense or support. Also, studios have a reason to unperson Vic from all his past output.
You are way too invested. You aren't going to save the world. All this shit is outside your control.
But what does that amount to in the real world? Vic lost the case, is on the hook for a lot of money, and has no real way to get back in the industry unless he has the range to dub every voice himself. And even then, who’d buy that?
What is there to laugh at?
You’re wrong about one thing, there’s one way this can get worse: Nick is proven right and Vic is driven to suicide because all of his supporters have turned on him. I doubt it, but if the Risembool Rangers end up disbanding or disavowing Vic, I’d say that’s a thing to watch out for.
Then you realize history is written by the winners and Vic goes down as Harvey Weinstein, R Kelly, and Bill Cosby combined. And the Funimation crew is hailed as heroes. Enjoy fighting against a regime who’ll be more than happy to end you for the crime of challenging the official story.
I was hoping things would go his way because of optimism. And since apparently Chupp didn’t want to do his job, appeals would notice. Guess Ty fucked up worse than I thought and I underestimated how much Vic’s own words would be used against him. And that GIF will now be used to destroy his career and it’s prospects.
A win on technicalities is still a win t the end of the day. It’s still going to be celebrated like a domination. I already knew Sony and company had a burnt bridge. My worry is that Sony’s reach will keep Vic or anyone that’s not with the in crowd from having a career. And as much as being “based and redpilled” could lead to its own idiocy and destroying of arguments, the fact nobody outside of Stan and Matsuri are like that, along with everyone being super worried about image and PR, makes me wonder what prospects are there for those who aren’t rolling with Sabat and his crew.

Who cares? A lot of companies and conventions that would have brought Vic in for easy money had this ruling not poisoned his name. And Marzgurl is just the type of person that’s able to get through to them.
And why do you give a shit about companies and cons that don't give a shit about you? And Vic winning his appeal wouldn't mean the people at these companies and cons would miraculously stop being shitheels. The writing was on the wall years ago. Wake up. Vic was never going to get back in with these people. You may as well be expecting CNN to start saying good things about Trump. It was never going to happen. We’ve been laughing and mocking these people for 3 years and they’re the exact same people still. They haven’t changed at all, the world around them has. It’s not funny anymore.
