I tried to read the screed the other day and came to the same conclusion without getting through all of his rambling. The fact he references Casablanca and Springtime For Hitler as his only points of reference would be laughable in any serious conversation. Such academic, much wow. A modest proposal is cliche but a better cultural touchstone and thats not even getting into the millenia long history of how satire was and modern satire came to be.

So if someone writes a suicide note and says that comments on someone's Facebook page said that "women cannot become men"...drove them to suicide, is Facebook responsible...or is the person whose page that comment appeared on responsible? This seems to be the natural end of all of Steve's machinations. He wants people to be held legally responsible for transpeople that kill themselves.

He's referring to cases such as this, which is something completely different:

A fictional Moriarty-type villian by the name of Mephisto (The Special X novels by Michael Slade) had a similar invention of a back story that he created for himself because his mind was so warped. Mephisto re-invented himself as a young boy, being the son of a globe-trotting Indiana Jones like figure, making amazing discoveries that shocked the world, and led to him becoming a criminal mastermind when his famous father was slayed in a grisly crime.

The latest book revealed that in reality, the character had actually dissociated from his real life, which was actually a young boy chained in his basement by a abusive psycho father with PTSD from combat, and the boy had invented all this because his brain litterally escaped itself from the abuse, then grew up to become the villain.

His complaint, if I remember correctly, was that in Italy his mom was late once to pick him up from school so he went home with someone else. Even if he claimed that he had been abused as a child, seeing that he is such an inveterate liar, I would not believe it.

Mostly I have learned that Bardfinn simply fits the profile of so many trans activists today. A lot of them are just mentally ill abusive men who are trying to hide from the reality of what they are by claiming to be trans. I've been watching as Eli Erlick has been called out as a similar kind of predator. The only thing unique about Bardfinn is that reddit appears to give him some sort of special preference when it has long been obvious that he is an extremist both politically and in real life.
