I would love to see this. Into The Breach is a great game but RNG can sometimes fuck you over.

I dont see calli getting anywhere music wise without hololive. She might be able to pull in some views on youtube with her wigger music but I dont see her taking off by herself. She needs something that allows her to fail upwards and hololive provides that but the second that's gone she will probably be on a perpetual decline or will stagnate

I think if she pivots away from rap like she's kinda been hinting recently, she could make something actually worth listening to that isn't an unholy electro swing-inspired white woman rap abomination. She's a good singer but she has one of the worst vocal timbres for rap possible.

I always called her Mori. Calli is a dumb name that implies familiarity when I don't like or enjoy her content, and Karen is useless when talking with idiot EOPs since it assumes the knowledge of her fleshtuber self. Another advantage of using Mori used to be that it's a name anons would use exclusively in the beginning so it made it easy to see who is a tourist… except with tourists becoming her core fandom on the boards it became something used by either neutrals, stubborn assholes or antis.

I honestly thought having English speakers on coco's meme review at all was a poor choice. Sitting with someone and looking at some fairly basic and usually not super funny memes as an English native in the collab isn't super engaging in the first place. The appeal of those streams was Coco explaining overseas viewer humor to members that normally didn't understand it. When you have English natives there it's just Coco explaining tame English jokes to English speakers. I'd be bored out of my mind in that situation as well and in a stream like that you can't just change the topic and talk about other shit. Calli's mario party collab with Coco was far better.

Using EN members was a horrible choice on top of an already horrible format but they did have some value in other areas. I watched some of the cringe reviews for the highly entertaining doomposting threads since it never failed to show reddit's alleged sense of humour in bad light but Coco's fumbling explanations to the JPs were definitely not good content. It was the reactions of JP talent that made it bearable and Mori absolutely failed in this area.

Mind you, reddit reviews are still a crime against humanity and all decency in the world as far as I'm concerned.

Man these Holostars collabs really make Calli likeable... Until she went on to call shit like My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, and Green Day punk music. Hate's back on the menu!

Green Day's roots is punk, especially if you look at their first two albums (Dookie and Insomniac). I don't really know what their sound is today though, but take it from an old musichead(?), a lot of music these days involve crossover between genres that I think it's easily forgivable if one mistakes a band or artist's genre due to the ambiguity and multiple genre influences in their music (especially in MCR and Blink-182). Gatekeeping in music is as old as time but it IS pretty fucking autistic.

Karen's been building her DDK persona/content pretty well and I doubt she goes on a decline if she does decide to graduate and go fulltime as DDK. Regardless of anyone's opinion on her likability, the one thing that's undeniable is that the bitch loves making music, and loves to work/churn out content. She's gonna have a dedicated following as DDK and at this point is well-connected with big creators in both the music industry (Tako Inoue, Teddyloid, etc) and the online streaming space (GeexPlus/Kadokawa, etc) that the question really isn't going to be whether she would be able to churn out enough content but whether she can keep up the pace at which she's doing stuff. She's almost guaranteed to have a sizeable number of her Mori audience migrate and keep up with her content on her DDK channel when she does graduate at some point (because they all will).

Starving artists will draw anything if you pay them. Especially those that went so far as have Fiverr accounts - which Karen had as early DDK.

On the other hand, is this seriously one person live-TLing an Apex stream for six fucking hours straight? Interpretation takes a ton of focus, to a point where professional environments would preferably have two translators that switch out every once in a while (30 minutes or so for simultaneous interpretation, which I wouldn't know whether that's what they're doing), or else at some point you'll start tiring out and making mistakes.

I don't think it was even Taishi doing the translations for her Apex stream yesterday. There's a few I've seen rotate in and out for her and I think I recall Vshojo putting out a notice looking to hire translators recently.

She does occasionally stream without a real person doing translations and slaps on the same janky auto translator I've seen some other vtubers use. She told the dude doing it yesterday he could leave and started using it after she finished playing and had moved onto just chatting/donations since the stream was so long, for example.

Fully agree on your take that it probably wouldn't work with larger companies that have more talents, though.
