So if you're familiar at all with "early" GG content, we had a bit of a wild west moment when it began, as a lot of the earliest and most prominent voices tended to peter out both fast and hard as they turned out to be complete speds (even by the staggering standards of GG). You all know about Brian Dunn, Mundane Matt, and how fast and hard Ethan Ralph ran aground, which is an interesting connection, because icze4r used to routinely run in the same goddamn circles. We weave an autistic web. One of the more odd things to happen was for "connected" individuals to show up as background fodder in GG circles, rarely actually doing or contributing anything of note, but somehow getting to act like they're hot shit. Probably the best-known examples of this shit were either ya boi King of Pol or
Devi Ever.
Appropriately, there were none that Gel was closer to than Matt, which is ironic, because even Boulder Boy Jarbo had the common-sense to realize that Gel was a piece of shit and distance himself from her, which is fucking hilarious when you remember that the Ethan Ralph meltdown had not happened yet. it was tacitly clear very early on that they weren't really down with the cause so much as piggybacking onto it to enrich themselves, and a lot of people (justifiably) were wondering who the fuck this person is that they were getting into a bunch of major coverage angles without really doing anything. Much like Ever, what got Gel kicked out was a combination of factors, but ultimately boiled down to attempts to police discussion that tilted her way, and when people told her to fuck off, she kind of went off gloriously. IIRC Ralph actually covered her at one point, but
not in any real detail because exposing specifics of what she'd been doing would have also fucking exposed what he was doing at the time.
Inevitably, ED took an interest, but a problem began because unlike a lot of other clowns covered by them in the past, Gel was smart enough to use a very different tactic for internet defense: Namely, clogging leads with nonsense. Gel has claimed to be everyone from better-known voice artists and musicians to semi-famous industry professionals working on video games, and, paired with her proclivity for setting up false flags, it functionally became impossible to verify a lot of her background. About the only thing that did come out was that
she once did MLP Guro art under the handle Crookedtrees, when
her email got leaked.
There's probably more lulz potential here if anyone went looking long or hard enough, but that would involve subjecting yourself to their Twitter feed, and they DFE constantly, so it's actually harder than you'd think to go spelunking there. About all you need to know is that they're a gigantic sped, to the degree that even Matt Jarbo and Ethan Ralph could see it, and reacted to being kicked out with all the dignity of Laurelai in a battered women's shelter.
