Phil isn't lying about the Dick's Sporting Goods issue with the fishing department. Some idiots are saying he claimed to go to a store that was closed..... He went to the store in Tukwila, 15 minutes from his house. There is a review on Google Maps from 3 months ago complaining that they had to go to a different store because this Dick's did not have a fishing department,

I'll admit I didn't like FF7 as much as others. it was ok. Didn't like the ending but my god, I mean I figured his take on the ending would be dent head inducing, he thinks Aerith is the first main character to die in a FF game after all but....jesus it's just stupidity mixed in with "these are words! ack ack ack.", horrible black accent and the reality tism all while staring down chat to look for digital ass pats for his """""""""""jokes"""""""" and "shit" repeated ad nauseam.
Does anyone really expect Phil to play any FF game that wasn't as big as FF7?
Jiggling keys in front of babies. Oh boy!

I can hear OIC and Timbo bragging how they're going to own the trolls with their 50+ alt accounts just to see a lolcow in a fishing hat (before said alt accounts disappear a month later after they see a dipshit wear a fishing hat).

Don't even, DSP is less of a Lucifer and more of a Belphegor.

I'm joking of course, he wouldn't make it to be in the books, except the book of Scopely.
"The first tip of the day comes from Belphegor on Wheels who tipped $6.66 and says 'Jasper is outside sacrificing Kat to Beelzebub" ok then, thank you for getting the support started."

EDIT: Holy shit this literally is DSP...

I don't know if you all remember but Phil couple years ago used to make a lot more money from his marathons. But I suppose back then marathons weren't weekly things. His desperation only grows with his addictions.
He had realistic sounding reasons for needing money back then. "I'm gonna lose my house!", "Kat will leave me!", "I need to visit my dying parents!", "If I get $1,000 I'll reveal something really, really cool".

Now there is a special event every weekend and the reason is that he needs money for his day off.

I mean realistically speaking that’s impossible. No other entry in the main series has spawned nearly the amount of spin-off material FF7 has. Final Fantasy went from “what? That game for nerds?” pre-1997 and “oh that game with the silver-haired prettyboy” post in the Western zeitgeist.

Unless you mean in terms of length and amount of content in which case hell no. You think Phil is really going to do something like fight Yiazmat in FF12? A feat which takes planning and preparation on top of hours of playing and a fair amount of luck? Even I mark that as honest-to-God work because unless you’re a very special kind of sperg you’re only going to derive so much enjoyment out of something like that.

Honestly though, bonus/post-game content for FF games has always been pretty lame since SE seems allergic to tying any of it to the narrative or party members. Like ooh boy another screen-filling superboss, can’t get enough of those. At least the bonus dungeon for FFVIA gave you cool character-specific gear, even though realistically you’re not going to be using it for anything other than Kefka’s Tower. Yawn.

His content legit makes me want to die just as a baseline, and I’m of the opinion RPGs can only be streamed and be entertaining under very limited circumstances (challenge runs, an extremely skilled/engaging/funny streamer, heavy audience interaction gimmicks like Twitch Plays Pokémon, etc.). If you gave him something like Chrono Cross to do a 100% run of you could actually weaponize that shit.

When he did marathons years ago did they go on for longer? Or has a marathon always been a regular streaming session but more expensive for his fans?

I believe the OG marathons were his "Saucy" streams where he would play Street Fighter all day and occasionally go and stir his sauce (because Leanna wasn't Italian enough to stir).
