The HBO Max/Discovery Griefing Thread - look how they massacred my boys

Trying to make it in voice acting is a rough job. Companies want to hire either big name actors or the exact same VAs that have been around forever and have major egos and some kind of influence in the industry
Still baffles me that younger VA's are still continuously in things. Look at the Sailor Moon actors. The Persona actors though thats because Valerie Arem is so up her own ass at the moment. Altus and Falcom gave her the winning lottery. (She and her husband are and come from money if you need to know)

Some disgruntled employee posted something on 4chan about how Toonami and possibly [adult swim] was gonna be kill come next year, but I can't find the 4chan thread about it. Someone had copy-pasted the post, they just didn't give the link to it.
After the way Adult Swim treated Sam Hyde they deserve this.

Oh boy Zaslav, you upset John Oliver (Archive). He says you're just appeasing Wall Street.
Actually, this may be hopeful. Zaslav shitting on Oliver might teach him an actual lesson and therefore his show will finally be cancelled for good. Remember, even before the Warner-Discovery merger, Samantha Bee's awful talk show show was cancelled, so here's some hope that Oliver's show gets cancelled.

It was canceled on July 26th while the merger happened April the 8th, so very much after merger. He won't cancel Oliver's show for political reasons but only if it losers viewership where it's no longer profitable or worth looking for a replacement.

Not sure why some people think Zaslav is some ultra rightwing person when he green-lit shows such as My Big Fat Fabulous Life or Dragnificent! or I Am Jazz. (note not saying you think this)

Looking at the past, Zaslav is all about cheap trash when it makes money and I really doubt shows like John Oliver cost much to make, least hope not.

He really likes reality shows because of their relatively-low production costs, which might be why they have taken over so many formerly-interesting networks like cancer.

I do not like what Zazlav is doing, because this drives the point home even further that media content can simply be erased forever at the personal whim of one person in charge. I know that with the rise of streaming networks, one of the selling points that was being promoted was that people could watch what they wanted, whatever they wanted, forever, but now examples like this show that this is far from the case.

I really liked Infinity Train and the same guy also created Regular show, and Adventure Time by Pendleton Ward was cool as well. However, there is no accounting for taste. Because of this, how long will it be before a show you like gets erased from existence? Plus, looking at the consolidation of so many platforms and media companies, how long will it be before other corporations decide to follow HBO Max's example and start removing older shows on their online catalogs to boost viewership of new movies and shows, or removing stuff that might now be considered "problematic" like what Disney did with Song of the South on Disney Plus?

Yeah what Zaslav is doing is honestly terrible for digital media and media preservation. It also is terrible from a business side, since while it does yield profits to make some shitty reality shows, most people are not going to sign up for a streaming service for crappy reality shows and the canceling of shows would just make new creators and such be hesitant to work with HBO Max.

Not to mention it sets a terrible precedent and would do what none of these corporations want people to do, and lead to a rampant rise in piracy. While I do pirate, I don't imagine the average business person would want that to happen.

Reactions: Rezza
Batman: The Caped Crusader, The Amazing World of Gumball Movie, that one animated Urkel holiday special, Bye Bye Bunny (the Looney Tunes musical that they announced not even a week ago), Merry Little Batman, and The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie all got the axe.
Not the Gumball movie. Fuck you Zaslav!!!!!! I was looking forward to that movie asshole!!!

I was sorta looking forward to the Caped Crusader but given that there was little info on it after like two years I kinda figured it was already dead.

Oh for fuck's sake, and I was actually looking forward to most of these. Fuck you Zaslav.

They're not canned, they're being shopped around since HBO Max doesn't want to deal with them. Doesn't really fill me with confidence though.
I still hope Adult Swim does indeed pick up Aqua Teen, Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse movies, respectively, after HBO Max shitcanned most of its upcoming lineup.

Looking at the stock, it's really going down and allegedly Warner Bros lost 3 billion in market cap.

I really don't think reality TV is going to save them

Not quite right, " TVLine hears that all six projects, mostly from Warner Bros. Animation, will continue production while they are shopped to other outlets.", they aren't tax writes off yet. So even if they don't just put it on Cartoon Network, I would be shocked if at least the Batman projects doesn't get picked up by any streaming service, doubt even Disney would pass it up if the price was right.

Moving them from HBO Max mostly makes sense outside maybe the Batman The Caped Crusader, I would say Cartoon Network seems to be the best fit overall if they weren't mostly movies. But for the Looney Tunes movies I can't help but feel the best way to put them out would be the direct to dvd/vod market much like the Scooby Doo and animated DC movies
