Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

I can't blame people for using a subsidized service, corn is subsidized, oil is subsidized, roads are subsidized, all that goes into a subsidized car or subsidized electric vehicle.
The biggest thing with the money is again, keeping riff raff out. Additionally, you need to cover SOME of the operating expenses. People are fine paying half, but they are not fine giving free rides. According the MTA ~8% of people do not pay for the MTA.

This faggot just needed to have one of the world's most punchable faces. Yes, our governments are biased toward rural areas which is why rural communities have minimal representation in state and federal governments.

"Urban planning" is pointless in contemporary major metropolitans. You can't have shared property without community. When you have divided tribes stuck together in an open air prison, you can only have conflict over what "belongs" to whom. Idpol has made this even more dysfunctional.

That’s a pretty good argument for abolishing it entirely.
Remember that urbanists are the same people who believe that suburbs are a Ponzi-scheme and advocate for higher taxes on cars and single-family homes in order to pay the "true costs" of a low-density lifestyle (Strong Towns' whole schtick which fails under the slightest bit of scrutiny). They can't both advocate for that and for free transit without being complete hypocrites, not that that's a problem for them.

Today, I share with you a post (Archive) about how a road which is a stroad by definition actually isn't one because it is in Europe (Czechia), not the US.
1661459098438.png

Here is OP's reasoning as to why it is a stroad:
1661459957650.png
There are a lot of comments stating that it has trees, sidewalks, bike lanes and therefore can't be a stroad, but I've seen plenty of comments stating that American roads with similar levels of non-car infrastructure are stroads.

1661459629222.png
1661459714384.png
1661459812180.png
Someone even got downvoted for an anti-parking comment, because those genius Europeans always build the optimal number of parking spots:
1661459594454.png
I bet /r/fuckcars would call this road in Miami a stroad, even though it has trees on both sides and in the middle, bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street, a bus lane, and a parking lane:
1661459262996.png
By the way, this piece of asphalt connects a park and the beach through a residential neighborhood, so using that commenter's reasoning above, it isn't a road.

You can't tell these people to cool it. They literally can't.

I wonder what they'd call the classical old southern small town center where you have a street going through and then there's like a wide parking area (that was always a parking area even before cars) in front of the ancient shopping district. STROAD!

Wow some actual self-recognition from a fuckcars mod? Genuinely unexpected. I'm not optimistic it will pan out though.

Instead of forcing rural people into cities, why don’t we force the people who like living in “dense, transit-rich settings” to move to a rural area? Mao did it:
Of all the bullshit commies tried pulling in the 20th century, this was unironically the most based, and I unironically support this for current year nucommie bugmen to smack them with reality and give a sense of perspective to their sheltered city-centric lives.

Ironic that "Cagers" is banned since that is an old motorcycle term. Few people are more anti-car than motorcyclists considering that it is generally the cagers trying to kill us (that or alcohol, bad driving, squidding, and throttle abuse)

At least that guy is honest. I can't fault him for stealing the small portion of the train cost that riders are expected to pay considering how much the taxpayer is expected to fork up. He's stealing 100% of the cost of a train ride, and every other rider is stealing at least 70% of the cost:

Transit in the NYC metro area is actually subsidized at an even higher rate because none of the capital costs are paid for by fares.
>2020 numbers
Its worse then that now.

NY MTA is a system for the poors now. People who have no other choice. Its a lawless underground nightmare. Muggings, homeless, crackheads fucking in the open and niggers smearing actual shit in peoples hair with zero worry of getting arrested. And if they do cashless bail means they are back on the street before the neutered police can even finish the paperwork.

Anyone with the ability is working from home now. Or taking a car, uber, or taxi in to the city if they have to really go. Unless anticar people address the nigger problem the MTA wont even get back to its heyday of the early 2000s. Forget making NYC carless.

This is just accelerationism in action, but mass transit will always be like this. Sure all walks of life rode in NYC in the before time, but at some point you have to face that transit fares have to be reasonable for the lower class to sell it politically, and if you're in a place with the money and space, you will absolutely get a car just so you won't be at the mercy of that.

First time I visited Toronto, first ride on... probably the RT, I had a twitching, random-noises schizo get on and sit next to me. That flipped a switch in me about transit.

Can't believe Brent Toderian isn't being brought up. Canada's leading bughive queen, often quoted in the US press. He is the official Twitter sperg of urbanism. Not sure how they do it Canada, but in the US huge tax abatements are given to developers who then gouge the fuck out of tenants or buyers. Suburban sprawl cannot be solely blamed on cars. Cars simply allowed people to escape overpriced, unsafe, dystopian hellholes.

Wonder what he thinks of remote work? It's causing the city revenue to tank. Who subsidizes who now, buglord?

It's kind of incredible. Reddit has the ability to completely radicalize so many people so quickly, it was basically a year since the sub blew up. The fuckcars sub along with the anti-work and anti-natalism subs should be studied, the way they all blew up so quickly and kind of at the same time is unnatural, and how insane the people on them are is terrifying. I'm also curious on the overlap between them all, I'm guessing it would be pretty high.

Van good, truck bad:

No one tell them that vans and pick-up trucks are about the same size, and a two seater work truck is 10.8 inches less long, 1.7 inches thinner, and 6.6 inches shorter than the equivalent van:
1661816854105.png
Even with an 8 foot bed, a two door F-150 is only 227.7 inches long, which is only 7.8 inches longer than the standard length Transit.

A four door truck with a 5 foot bed (typical truck hated on for being not really for work) is smaller in 2/3 dimensions than the standard length Transit:
1661816555503.png
Good luck carrying your family comfortably after work in a cargo van. The four door truck is two vehicles in one. They'd rather an independent tradesman own two vehicles instead of one (or more likely, tell him that he is only allow to drive to service them, not to take his family places).

I'd love to see them try to remove all the waterways from Venice and make it a "walkable city", I'm sure removing the waterways won't have countless negative effects on the surrounding environment of Italy.
Oh Venice is already walkable, even though the canals can't be crossed on foot:
1661817819056.png
Don't ask me why having to walk a block to a crosswalk to cross a road is bad, but walking a block to a bridge (or taking a ferry/gondola) to cross a canal is good.

Venice is also around 3 miles long. I'd like to see someone walk that in half an hour.

You forgot the biggest advantage of pickup trucks: towing capacity. You can't do actual towing with a cargo van. Maybe a couple of jet skis or dirt bikes, maybe a razor or can am side by side if you want to push it. Meanwhile a basic bitch F150 can easily tow a car.

I see you're not familiar with European tow ratings. According to them, you can tow a car with a van or even a small sedan. Since most /r/fuckcars users are either Europeans or American basement dwellers who get all their opinions from said Europeans, if you pointed that out they would likely make some snide comment about how Europeans can tow just fine without some hulking truck like the dumb Americans need. The Europeans standards are less safe, especially if the tower decides to drive at normal freeway speeds, which is why their laws limit the speed of a towing vehicle to 60 MPH or less in an effort to compensate. The American way is always safer though, even at low speeds.

Here's a good article explaining the different towing rules.
