People in general are extremely bad at infosec. Social media these days basically trains people to not think about covering up their tracks, or not posting identifiable information about themselves. It never occurs to them to use throwaway or burner accounts.

So when people get doxxed, people assume it's because said doxxers were super elite hackers or something like that. When in reality, it's as simple as looking up a phone book, or an online equivalent of one.

At the absolute most, it may involve some social engineering, but usually not even then.
