George RR Martin, his fanboys, and former fanbase

Like you said, this show is gonna serve to make it all about GIRL BOSS AND PATRIARCHY IS BAD!, which is not at all what the conflict was about.
Yeah I'm not watching the show but that's what I was worried about. Rhaenyra and Aegon II are both grievously flawed leaders. Rhaenyra is cowardly, incompetent, spiteful, and untrusting. She was also hit by terrible luck and a number of things out of her control. As well as having to go through several things that worsened her mental state. Funnily, Otto Hightower was completely wrong about Daemon ruling and controlling her. Meanwhile Aegon is just a dumb, cruel, brute. But at the very least he's a capable warrior and most definitely not a coward. I have the feeling this sort of nuance and grey morality is going to be absent.

The Greens are already far less likable than The Blacks thanks almost purely to people like Aemond, Otto, and Unwin Peake, don't need to make things even more cut and dry.

The Targs are by far the most standout House in the entire ASOIAF series. They are not natives to Westeros. Their ancestors somehow tamed dragons. The seem to be supernaturally linked to dragons. They openly practice incest. They merely pretend to adopt the Faith of the Seven to placate Westeros commoners but this is all political theater. They are prone to either brilliance or pure madness. Making them unpredictable. They have branch houses that are violent and power hungry. Their story is the most interest (on paper at least).

Out of all of the houses in ASOIAF to do a prequel on they are prime candidates. Starks? Lannisters? Anyone else? Would be infinitely boring. Targs and dragons are the backbone of the series. Jon and Dany are both Targs. Tyrion in the books is heavily implied to be from Mad Aerys and not from Tywin (dragon dreams, abortion attempt, white hair, Tywin denying their relation).

The physical appearances of the Targs in this show are ridiculous. I suspect that they made the White actors look cheap on purpose because they could not make the nigger Targs believable. So rather than have perfect costumes and hair for the British actors and actresses who were Targs like in Game of Thrones. They just said "if we can't get it right for the black Targs we will just make them all look like cosplayers".

And the "girl boss" meme really only works with absurd characters like Arya. With her magical flying dagger leap into the Night's King. Dany is a 'boss' character because she has giant dragons. Any man would piss himself in front of a dragon. Of course people are terrified of her power but really they are ghastly afraid of her dragons. Her girl boss attitude did nothing against Jon when he knifed her pregnant stomach point blank. And Drogo's Bloodriders were never in fear of her until she showed them her dragons and her immunity to fire. They were going to kill her before Jorah stepped in.
A good writer can make an interesting story about literally anything, so sure, why not the Lannisters? The Starks are interesting enough, give us that Bran the Builder arc they were sort of going for with that 86'd Long Night series. Or do a "Young Melisandre" series set in Asshai where people have dragons (a foreign setting would also allow HBO to put in all the Black And Brown People they wanted and it would actually make sense). Or maybe redeem the Iron Islanders, or the Dornish, or do something with Oldtown or the Citadel or the House of Black and White or the Free Cities or the Dothraki or Valyria or WHATEVER, there's plenty of material to mine in this world.

I just find everything about the Targs to be cornball puerile wankery even by high fantasy standards. OMG THEY'RE SO HOT AND MAGICAL AND FUCK EACH OTHER AND DRAGONS HRRRRNG.

It has more cool characters involved besides Rhaenyra, like Daemon.

Thing is, I think this could have worked better like an anthology called HotD, starting with Aegon's Conquest, which definitely has much better characters: Aegon himself and his sisters. Like you said, this show is gonna serve to make it all about GIRL BOSS AND PATRIARCHY IS BAD!, which is not at all what the conflict was about.
Aegon and his sister-wives would have likely been an issue for them to try to GIRLBOSS seeing as they're both his siblings he's bringing to pound town. People found John's familial ties to Daenerys enough to meme to oblivion so I'm sure they'd be gunshy unless they intend to retcon it into being a marriage in spirit.

It was not a good episode to start on, the only guy who looks like he belongs there is the antagonist. I did like the jousting scenes, it was a good way to show exactly what kind of man the antagonist is.
Besides that, does the main character have FAS or something? I’m not joking, she looks fucking weird.

With the whole "Targs always knew about the White Walkers" prophecy being retconned into the series the Targs look even more pathetic. In the long run the Targs wipe each other out in civil wars. Wipe out their dragons. Lose the throne and basically entire realm across decades because of this. Fail to warn anyone about the threat of the Others. Including the maesters or historians. So that no one is prepared in the future. Also a common threat like the Others would make the Targs less of a target for insurrection and rebellion.

A century and more later one lone Targ manages to hatch dragons on her own. She ends up donating a dragon to the White Walkers and it brings down the Wall causing an undead invasion. She then proceeds to murder more commoners in King's Landing with her dragons and foreigner arab army than the entire Long Night would do. Proceeds to die being killed by another Targ. The last Targ remaining kills her. Meaning even two centuries later they are throwing their dragons away and killing each other.

No no no, having an actual black continent is about the worst thing a studio can do.
First of all, inserting their own nepotistic """white""" goblinoid children will be harder since they'll be blamed for not being accurate.
Secondly, every tiny cultural icon will be over analyzed to see if it can be used to bitch at cultural insensitivity.
Third, they cannot show the place as non-functioning since that will imply niggers aren't the master race.
And finally, and most importantly, this will necessitate doing their research and actually learning about new things.

No, it's better to just do a bastardised timeless medieval show and have some niggers bitch about muh racism.

In a different fantasy story, a functioning kingdom of blacks isn't bad itself, but even the woke crowd would probably not get behind that if it ever shied away from racial narratives or is somehow not a black ethnostate like Wakanda (which for some reason is alright as long as it isn't a white ethnostate).

That said, every group in GoT are basically niggers to each other. Anyone who is a saint in such a dreary setting would be pretty out of place.

The first two episodes of the show really do make Daemon out to be the most likeable character, Viserys is a retard who guts his own wife, Otto is like Littlefinger without any of the charisma, Corlys is OK, but all of his lines in the show are "muh crabfeeder nigga, shieeeeeet". All Daemon does is get cucked out of the throne, then dab on his brother because of it, he has charisma and likes to showboat, so I guess he's supposed to be a villain. Might just be because Matt Smith's Moai statue lookin' ass steals all of the scenes he's in.

Preston Jacobs HOTD Episode 2 Discussion

Preston complains that everyone complains about him being a negative, bitter piece of shit. He feels the need to define what "nitpicking" actually is to his audience, and then goes on to tell them that, as a person who has been a middle manager, he understands that everyone needs 20 pieces of praise for one piece of criticism.

His commenters are starting to push back at his stupid bullshit, which is funny. I can only imagine what his response will be in the next video.

-Him saying that HOTD is "okay" doesn't mean much when he spends the rest of his videos bitching about it.
-One of his big criticisms of GOT was too much fanservice but now one of his big criticisms for HOTD is not enough fan service.
-He complains about Viserys being a hypocrite for not marrying a 12 year old when he married Aemma at age 11, but people are pointing out this is a dumb take since Viserys was like 15 when he married Aemma.
-At one point Preston says it is absurd a Dragon could go missing becuase they are the equivalent of a nuclear weapon and if any random person got it they would rule the world. Someone jokingly says he would like to see Prestons reaction when he finds out there are actually missing nuclear weapons in the world. Preston felt the need to flex his big brain and remind the world he worked for the government by pointing out that "Broken Arrows" are not misplaced, they are simply lost in undetonated drops or sunk subs. The commenter responded by pointing out that securing a rogue dragon would be almost as impossible as securing one of these broken arrows so his equivalence is still retarded.
-People generally pointing to his complaints as definitely being nitpicking, and that a lot of his problems with the episode are really easily explained such as why Otto only had 20 men with him when he confronted Daemon and the race of Criston Cole (ironic considering he threw a shit fit when people questioned Corlys race)

The video itself isn't really worth a watch. Typical Preston Jacobs and his friend video. The one funny part is when Preston claims a big mistake in the show is that someone uses the word "impeachable" instead of "impeccable". His friend says he is wrong, and Preston insists he is correct and they go check. It turns out he is wrong because the guy says "unimpeachable" but Preston can't handle making a mistake and tries to save face by saying he thinks it is still grammatically incorrect because it is a double negative.

Also the Dance of the Dragons, which the fucking show is based on, points out multiple times that you need more than just dragons to rule the world. Dragons die to other dragons, getting ganked by unwashed plebs, their dragon riders being jobbers, etc.. I mean, the comparison is utterly retarded, because following that logic, North Korea would be ruling the world because they have nukes and like to flex the fact the most, but it's also entirely wrong if you think about it in universe for the books or show.

Preston had a theory that Robyn Arryn was gonna be a warg or something, he really can't complain about anything, he's like the king of crackpot theories.
It's so strange how unbelievably smug he has become. Nothing has ever come out of his theories and most of his takes on the show are basic bitch as fuck.

And he honestly never should have revealed what he looks like. Him living overseas is bad enough but after seeing his face and how much he protests over child marriage in a fucking show based on medieval style culture I definitely get diddler vibes.

ASOIAF has Sothoryos, which is basically fantasy Africa but worse. The human(oids) that live there are more like…Homo Erectus or something and can not even breed with Westerosi or Essosi. And they are all savages

There is no way they’d ever adapt that.

Gotta hand it to George, the Summer Islands are characterized as basically high-fantasy Wakanda, which means the fatass can have his cake and eat it too by writing Sothoryos as the most hilarious "darkest Africa" stereotype this side of Joseph Conrad.

Of course, most of this shit comes from WOIAF, and anything in WOIAF should be treated as effectively fanfic given the amount of input GRRM had/amount of relevance it's likely to have to the series as a whole.

The summer islands are more like a hippy paradise. Everyone lazes around and has sex all day. Women even consider it an honor to be prostitutes and fuck every man that enters their door. Even their wars don’t involve serious casualties and are more ritualistic.

But yeah it’s funny though you have that then have Darkest Africa times a hundred.

"Muh worldbuilding! It's so realistic! GRRM isn't a giant fucking pervert at all!"

reminder this man wrote a whole chapter about a 12 year old girl engaging in sex play and then murdering her beau and it's probably like 50% of why we haven't seen any updated TWOW chapters since its release

Looking back, I can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed GoT that much. I don’t mind dark or depressing settings, but GoT was just hard to watch for me in places.

The way the Red Wedding was handled just seemed needlessly edgy and gratuitous. Wasn’t enough for them to die, no, you had to have Robb’s wife get stabbed repeatedly into her pregnant belly, you had his dire wolf get his head cut off and sewn on top of Robb’s dead body with the men chanting “The King of the North!”.

It just felt tasteless the way it was handled.

That’s really what George’s work as a whole is. Tasteless.
