And then instead of just burying this, they submit it as evidence as to why it was totally a serious raid and definitely no one needs to look into the affidavit and LOOK, TRUMP BAD, AMIRITE? Because they can't just let it quietly die on the vine, that looks bad for them. They literally can't reverse course even for a minute even if that serves them better in the long run because ORANGE. MAN. BAD.

Why didn't they put the kibosh on that photo before it got out? I mean they're ones with the media connections and intelligence resources to find out who it had been handed off to.

My standing belief is that Garland and his lackey agents went rogue, resulting in Garland getting leashed and the FBI beginning to purge its lower ranks. Most likely the photo was leaked by one of the lackeys since the FBI can't just publically shitcan them without also saying "Yah, the raid was awful" which would just add more ammo to the forces that now want them gone.

It's stupid all the way down. And yet not surprising when you consider how often targeted leaks are used by ideologues to try to gain favor. It fits perfectly into the behavioral pattern... it's just so god damned stupid that nobody wants to believe it's the case.
