Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Feel free to rate me late, but has anybody commented on the business practices of LMG? Apparently if you work for them, you have to sacrifice all your creative energy and solely create content for LMG-affilitated channels. Meaning that people who work for them can't create their own content for their own YouTube channels
I don't know who or how that policy was applied (prob recently) because David was able to make a video essay on The Last of Us 2.

Which was also promoted on a Short Circuit Video in the description:

dunno why maybe they are considered an LMG-affiliated channel.

I remember seeing a really cringey Mario Kart video where employees were racing to get extra vacation time.
Lmfao not the first time Linus tried to show off for being such an awesome boss!

Apperently its 50k a year for a talent coordinator, whatever that means.
Basically work culture policing lmfao.
But knowing Linus I doubt that person will do what he/she is hired to do, they will most likely just do general HR shit.

Why does every single member of linus's staff have to pretend to be a streamer and spends thousands on "streamer gear" like literally anyone on earth cares about their unfunny boring video game streams.
Someone more autistic than me should go through all the tech upgrades and calculate out how much company and private funds these guys have spent to get 10 viewers on twitch.

The only person who got a viewer base from Ltt was Taran but that was because he made interesting videos about what he was passionate about. Rather than let me put on the video game of the month, and garble into my mic.
This is a common grift - salaries are taxable on all ends but “buying stuff for work purposes” is a business expense. You just gotta pretend to actually business it.

Meaning that people who work for them can't create their own content for their own YouTube channels, no matter what the subject matter is, while working for LMG. Taking a look at their Glassdoor reviews (which I know aren't 100% verifiable) things look pretty bleak. I didn't know their little office was the modern day equivalent to The Paradise.
I remembered when one of LMG employee, Taran Van Hemert, did making videos on his channel regularly until February 2021.

14 months later, he posts this:

So my guess is that LMG has alot of shakeups and implement such policy at around early-2021. I also felt that LMG contents has become far more sponsor-driven from that time forward + that more feeling that all of LMG Crews are forced to act like Linus.

I don't know who or how that policy was applied (prob recently) because David was able to make a video essay on The Last of Us 2.

I guess you can separate them as "he as himself" VS "not getting fired from my Job"

Taran is extremely based and the shit he was doing with about 400 keyboards full of just macros was peak efficiency and alpha male imo, i was honestly a bit saddened to see him leave

I think that only works if you're either self-employed or the business buys it for you and takes the cost out of your gross pay. IIRC Canadian income tax only has standard deductions so you can't add a line for "Stupid streamer garbage" and deduct that.

It's for the best, he's in a better place now.
I kinda want to see them get audited by the CRA (Canuck IRS), cause people get audited for way less.
IMO the Chink-wife CFO is probably keeping things just legitimate enough that they'd pass an audit.

Anyway, graph time. Seems Linus has gotten a little greedy with the screwdrivers and has added an additional 50,000 pieces of inventory.

Backpack sales overall have been fairly stagnant except for a few bumps where the screwdriver seems to have brought in some additional piggies

Apparently 1,500 of the backpacks have shipped a little early. We should know shortly if there are any major QA failures.

Linus has cooked up special edition screwdrivers that he's giving to other "creators". Free marketing! God I hope the blue one isn't for GN.

Anyone who reviews that is confirmed to be a shill. An honest reviewer would insist on reviewing the same version that a customer would buy.
I'm guessing GN will pull a Beve Sturke and order a screwdriver as a regular customer with an alter ego just like they did with all the prebuilts, if they were to review it.

That's one of the smartest things Linus has done in ages. If I see any creator whose work I enjoy using an LTT screwdriver in one of their videos, it'll tell me that their channel has jumped the shark and it's time for me to unsubscribe.

This is why the only review I'll take seriously is Project Farm's. He paid for his LTT screwdriver with his own money, just like he does with every other item he's ever tested on his channel.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if Linus hand picked the screwdriver PF bought and packed it himself, just to make sure it was one of the very best ones he had in stock at the time. Fat lot of different it'll probably make to the overall test results.

The next PF video can't come soon enough.

What you do is instead of the company paying you $60k is they pay you $50k and then the company buys $10k of streamer shit and let’s you take it home and keep it.

Of course knowing them they probably imply it’s yours to keep and then demand it back when you’re fired heh.

Which is the exact reason why when Gamers Nexus buys something for reviewing, like prebuilds for example, they make sure that their order looks like one of an ordinary customer instead of a YouTube reviewer, to make sure they get sent exactly what normal customers would get, because otherwise they'd get the special attention version of the product to make sure they won't assblast the company. And clearly this approach worked really well given how bad some of the prebuilds they've got were.

Here's a question, does he plan on having these creators use the drivers, or is this something far more sinister.

The fact hes doing this shortly after his major scandal about the same thing he's sending makes me feel like this is fucking bribery.

He was a huge weirdo that a lot of us could've found something to make fun of, but he was sincere with his hobbies, kept to himself, and was knowlegdeable and optimistic in what he did. I'm also sad to have seen him leave--whether it be through creative differences or because he realy did manage to save enough to live comfortably going forward. Hope he pops in and makes videos again every now and then

and uncle bumblefucks
I'm sure it's a nice screwdriver but he hasn't really explained why I or anyone would need it. It's a screwdriver, what does it do that my many other screwdrivers don't do?
It's a mechanics tool first & foremost. Often you're in tight spots where you simply don't have the clearance to rotate the handle a full 360 so you're going a 1/2 turn then resetting the head. With the ratchet you can zing fasteners in & out a lot quicker. I have at least 5 ratchet drivers (Gearwrench & Snap On) loaded with different bits & shafts. Does the average guy need one? Probably not. Good to have around the house but.
but PC building hardly requires ratcheting anyways.
Guess it depends how many PC's you build a day really? If anything a small precision ratcheting driver is good for computer work. The ratchet driver has a handle the size of a #3 Phillips usually. It's unwieldy & overkill for this application.

If you're into spending Linu$ money on one buy the Gearwrench

If you're a cheap cunt that wants something that won't shit itself immediately try the Husky (this is rebranded worldwide)
