What these patients don't get is that surgeons aren't magicians. They also tend to not care too much, as that would interfere with their capacity to work. Many medics are pragmatic sociopaths, i.e. they purposefully ignore the emotional, personalized suffering that the patients are often in. That's quite necessary, if you start to connect to the people that reach you after getting mangled by a car or rotting from the inside with some terminal cancer, you won't last a year in this field of work. It will destroy you.
So no, they're not playing with him, they just followed the steps, a bad result occurred, will go in the statistics, maybe in a study, shoulders will shrug and life will move forward, with further experimentation. The money has also been extracted, the risks were 99.9% explained clearly, the patient consent signature is on their dossier. Hell you could literally kick the bucket during surgery, from anesthesia or hell knows what other rare misfortune. Took an oath, and unlike these butchers, I like my job and care about my patients. I patched up dudes that had gangrenous feet from decades of alcoholism and homelessness, dude that tried to stab the nurse I was working with, heroin addicts and more.
If this is me being soft, so be it.
I don't see this in terms of individuals, these nerds are just lost souls that failed to adapt to our hyperreality and got preyed upon by an entire system of evil. Those systems is what I care about, not individuals.
And they listen to people online because these systems indoctrinated them to think of normal people like me as the "cis-het patriarchy" and to assume from the start that we want them all to 41%, which I might joke about, but it doesn't mean I'm actually desiring that. These idiots rely on online groomers because they are the only ones showing them a (false) kindness and understanding.
I prefer the institutions get fixed, and people get psychiatric care, and the predditors and medics that failed their oath are marginalized, ostracized and held accountable. I prefer zero lolcows, but a sane society, or at least one that makes it clear it pursues that sanity.
