That space is called the filtrum.

That filtrum length wouldn't be shocking before the nose job but now the nose is so small and upturned it's throwing off the proportions of her face. Also you can probably gaze at her nose hairs all the time.
Previous nose was longer and maybe straighter or even droopy, making the filtrum appear shorter. Ski-slopped noses have a lengthening effect on the filtrum.

Speaking of the philtrum, there is a now a procedure where the philtrum is surgically reduced in width, essentially pulling the middle of the top lip upwards toward the nose and creating a permanent gap between the lips even when closed.

You could probably do it normally with someone who hasn't overfilled her lips and obliterated her features. You don't need to start the lip just under the nose like so.
