I wanna say something mostly in reference to various past posts regarding Sam's alleged sociopathic behavior and the Marky & related accusations:
I remember back in early 2015 the Sam Hyde Encyclopedia Dramatica article was completely changed from an implicitly positive & approving article to a strangely negative and totally new one, rife with repeated "Sam Hyde inconveniences _____", downplaying his pranks and so forth and just flat out insulting him. I don't recall it featuring the Marky accusations at the time, but regardless it didn't seem...organic. At all. It was very out-of-character for ED at the time, especially considering Sam wasn't THAT mainstream yet, and the edits felt really abrupt and apropos of nothing and I distinctly remember the guy who edited it to be some furry with Renard art in his profile (I think Nazifur stuff?). Whilst the current ED article has alleged negative stuff about Sam, it's written in a distinctly "ED"-style way—the aforementioned article was not, being very "dry" and deadpan.
I asked my friend who was an MDE fan and he said something about there being a circle of people who had a beef with Sam due to something related to being involved with parkourdude91, who Sam namedrops a few times in his vids—at least in
Tactical Talk, and he namedrops "Joyce Stryker" at the beginning of
Michael Rogers (Joyce Stryker is the name of parkourdude91's intentionally cringy self-insert in Tiberius Rising, a purposely bad "calladuty" ripoff novel he wrote.) Michael Rogers was made in 2011; there were a lot of half-serious "proto-vertical vids" made by Sam that year. Another example would be
IMG 0612 (a personal favorite).
I don't really know much about parkourdude91 other than he was some really proficient troll who LARPed as a cartoonish parody of conservative/patriot types and wrote some
incredible literature. Apparently many people believed he was legit, and he made so many people mad that people targeted Sam because of his involvement, but I'm admittedly not privy to how involved Sam actually was other than what my friend claimed and the namedrops, but he obviously had some association. The 2011 date of Michael Rogers would imply their connection stretched back quite a while, as did parkourdude91's activity. I noticed that unlike a lot of other internet figures, parkourdude91 isn't talked about much and seems largely forgotten. I'm having trouble getting much information at all and, in fact, I only know about him because my friend told me and because of Sam's namedrops.
I bring this up because of the many back-and-forth posts made by
@sethking and
@ellroy, with regards to theories that there may be some motivation for people to conspire to demean Sam. At the time, my intuition told me that there was something very suspicious about the whole thing but I eventually forgot about it. I only just remembered it again now and I've heard literally no one else talk about it let alone even mention it. Also if anyone can provide archives of the ED article around those times it'd be helpful, as I don't have the old URL before they moved.
